 Responsible for setting final budget targets and set allocation priorities when funds are
limited or restricted
 Oversees the annual operating and capital budgets for the laboratory

 CAP inspector – assigned to inspect other laboratories for regulatory purposes and
renewal of license
 Responsible for equipment purchases and supply ordering
 Responsible for state and CLIA licenses renewal
 Maintain good working relationships with hospital staff, pharmacy, quality risk and other
departments.
 Initiate CLS training program and support the MLT training in the lab
 Develop laboratory response plan to unannounced surveys to ensure continual readiness
 Successful lead in the CAP and JAHCO surveys always resulting in full accreditation
GENERAL LABORATORY SUPERVISOR
INTERIM LABORATORY DIRECTOR

 Responsible for the technical, clinical and operational procedures of the laboratory
 Directly supervised over 100 employees that includes Clinical Laboratory Scientists,
Medical Laboratory Technologists, Laboratory Assistants, Certified Phlebotomist
 Responsible for new hires, training and termination of new and current employees
 Co-direct all budgetary, fiscal and payroll matters of the laboratory with an annual budget
of $5 million. These includes assisting the laboratory administrative director in
conducting and reviewing all capital equipment purchases and cost benefit analysis
 Responsible for the point of care licensure requirements, training, documentation, SOP,
analytical patient testing activities, including evaluations and competencies of employees
performing point of care testing
 Responsible for renewal of state and CLIA licenses
 Assist in all operational and strategic planning initiatives
 Represents the laboratory in interaction with hospital administration, laboratories within
the region and other health profession to resolve any lab related issues
 Responsible for all lab related employee disciplinary action and grievance proceedings
 Participates in the negotiation of the union’s memo of understanding
Initiatives and Achievements
 Consolidated clinical and anatomical reference laboratory testing resulting in more than
$500,000.00 savings
 Curtailed messenger services resulting in more than $20,000.00 a year in savings
 Implemented new cross training program for CLS and along with new overtime
guidelines resulted in a reduction of overtime expenses from 80% to 13 %
 Revised and implemented new attendance and punctuality policies resulting in substantial
reduction of sick leave use and abuse. Coupled with appropriate disciplinary measures to
maintain morale, fairness and quality of service
 Responsible for the implementation of a new blood bank computer system – coordinating
and evaluating employee training
 Directed post graduate internship for new CLS and MLT. Develop curriculum to comply
with the California Department of Public Health services and the NACCLS regulation.
Recruited, interviewed and selected intern candidates; coordinated in-services,
teleconferences and lectures. Authored medical laboratory technologist internship
requirements and guidelines
 Participated in the evaluation and decision making of the point of care testing device
 Health Fair Coordinator – as part of the hospital community service, coordinated over 50
health fairs, developing SOP, ensuring equipment training and use and cost effectiveness
 Participated in numerous Career Day forums/events at local high school and colleges
promoting the medical technology profession
 Successful Joint Commission and CAP surveys with commendation and minimal RFIs
 Consistently exceeded targets in productivity and expense per billable test maintaining
laboratory productivity of 104% at all times
 Reduced the high usage of butterflies with savings of $40,000.00 annually
