2. Description
“The Selena Museum is the only official museum to
honor the life and legacy of Selena Quintanilla (1971-
1995), one of the most celebrated Mexican-
American artists and entertainers in history and often
named the "Queen of Tejano Music."
Located in Selena's hometown of Corpus Christi,
Texas, the museum has become one of the top
tourist attractions in South Texas and attracts visitors
from throughout the country and around the globe.
The museum gives fans and visitors a rich and
unique glimpse into the life of the Tejano icon,
including her most prized possessions, iconic stage
outfits, awards, photos, fan art, and other
memorabilia.”
4. The creation of the
Selena Museum
The “Selena Museum” was created by Selena’s
family after many fans stated they wanted a place to
honor the singer and share her legacy with the
public.
5. Elements
The museum includes many elements of
Selena and her career. From clothing pieces
Selena herself had worn to her own car she
owned. The museum also pays tribute to her
loyal fans by including artwork made by
them and letters they have written to her.
6. Subject Matter
The museum is here and was created to
honor the Latin Pop star and give
consideration to the things that made her
who she was. It is there as a memorial for
those such as her fans to reflect on the
person she was and the elements that made
up her career.
7. Layout
The layout of the museum includes various
enclosed casings of Selena’s famous outfits
row after row. With not only rows of her
famous outfits, upon the walls includes
some of her awards throughout her career
and artwork of herself.
8. “The Purple
Jumpsuit”
This is one of the pieces included in the
museum. This is Selena’s iconic purple
jumpsuit, that obviously had to be presented
inside this museum. This jumpsuit is not just
any outfit Selena wore, this jumpsuit has
meaning.
9. Analysis
The color of the jumpsuit; purple, was
Selena’s favorite color. Most of anything
made with Selena on it contained the
color purple. Purple was her color.
10. Analysis
Not only does the purple color represent her
the details of the jumpsuit do as well. The
broad shoulders and broad bell bottoms
represent her personality so well. There are
also little tiny rhinestones all over in my
opinion representing that she shined like a
star. The cutout in the middle is also very
Selena, as she always liked to show some
skin and really embrace who she was.
11. Not only do the characteristics of this
jumpsuit match Selena’s personality and
character so well, but there is more to this
jumpsuit than just the tiny details on it. This
jumpsuit was actually her last major concert
outfit when she performed her last concert in
the Astrodome on February 26, 1995, before
getting killed.
Analysis
12. “The Grammy”
This form of art presented to Selena
represents her accomplishments, but it
also represents so much more from the
details of it to the true meaning behind
her winning this award.
13. The gold color of this “statue” represents
her being a “winner.” The Grammy, short
for gramophone in which it is shaped as
represents the music industry in which
Selena is in. A gramophone is an old
record player so it makes sense as to why
a singer would receive a grammy shaped
as this.
Analysis
14. Analysis
Not only do the small details about this
award represent a lot, but what represents
so much more is why she was given this
award. Selena won this award at the 36th
annual Grammy Awards on March 1, 1994 for
“Best Mexican/American Album of 1993,” for
her album called “Live!” Not only was this
Selena’s first ever Grammy she had won, but
she was the first ever Tejano artist to receive
this award, and to this day she remains the
youngest artist to receive this specific award.
15. Overall viewing the Selena Museum made
me get to know Selena better as I learned so
much about her history and
accomplishments throughout her lifetime.
This museum was creative, unique,
informative, and culturally significant. This
museum not only represents Selena, but it
also represents a part of the
Mexican/American community as she had
such a big impact on them.

16. Evaluation
There are many museums honoring specific
singers, the Selena Museum most reminded
me of the Elvis Museum. Both including
artwork of them and rows and rows of their
most iconic outfits. Although the Selena
Museum reminded me of another, no other
museum is exactly like it, because there is
only one Selena. I highly enjoyed viewing
this virtual museum and recommend anyone
that is able to, to go visit this museum in real
life.
