There's nothing like getting outside into Mother Nature and soaking up all the goodness She has to offer as a boon to your health and wellbeing. Here's 7 reasons why you should do it more often!
2. The negative ions generated by waterfalls, waves crashing on the
beach, and river rapids have lots of positive effects on the body
(ironically!)
3. Getting outside sans constant texting, scrolling, tapping, and instantly responding
to every ping, chime, bell or ringtone that bursts from your phone is a detoxifying
experience. Silence, fresh air, playful activity and getting your blood coursing
through your veins are all great for your mind and body.
4. Being alone with yourself and nature gives you a
chance to refresh, re-energise, and rejuvenate for
free!
5. You don’t need to put on special gym gear, buy
any equipment, or be a member to take
advantage of what the Great Outdoors has to
offer.
6. Interacting with nature gives your brain a break
from all the stimulation and overload of
information it’s exposed to every day.
7. It can improve your mental health. One study by the
researchers at Glasgow University showed that
people who got out into nature and walked, ran, or
biked had a lower risk of poor mental health than
people who exercised indoors.
8. It can strengthen your immune system.
Researchers found that women who spent
six hours in the woods over the course of
two days had an increase in virus and tumor-
fighting white blood cells. Plus, the boost
lasted for at least seven days afterwards!
