Rules for giving instructions
• Start instruction with a verb
• Provide a measurement or benchmark.
Example: quantity, quality, volume,
amount, length, etc.
• Break task into steps or actions. Provide
only one action per step.

• To demonstrate is to show the employee
exactly how to perform the task
• Break the task up in bite-size smaller
steps or actions
• Demonstrate slowly, for better
absorption and understanding of how to
perform the skill
