The student created a stool incorporating parts from a motorcycle that would otherwise be wasted. Eight unique components were designed and manufactured using machinery to make the stool's design possible. The student enjoyed the project and learning to safely use workshop equipment to create a unique, functional product.
For a GCSE project, the student designed packaging and promotional material for commemorative BMX goggles related to the 2012 London Olympics. With limited resources, the student developed designing skills to produce high-quality, mechanically innovative packaging unlike conventional designs. The student took pride in the final product and project overall.

Design brief: Design and make motorsport themed seating which incorporates motorcycle components.
A-Level
I created this stool with an upcycling theme, making use of
motorcycle parts that would otherwise have no use. Parts were
taken from a written off Honda nc30 and the main part of this
project was determining how these parts can be incorporated into a
seating design. This involved designing, developing and
manufacturing unique components (example shown) to make this
design possible. In total 8 unique components were designed with
drawings using Solidworks then manufactured using a range of
machinery and manufacturing methods. I thoroughly enjoyed this
project, to create something very unique and functional, also being
given the opportunity to work away from the classroom. Once
directed how to use the machinery safely, I could use the
equipment available to me to create a product which I consider one
of my greatest achievements.

Olympic theme.
GCSE Graphics
At GCSE level, I designed and made the packaging and promotial
material for my own design of BMX goggles. The equipment
available to use was limited. However, I was able to develop my
designing skills to produce a product to a very high standard, unique
to conventional packaging through the use of mechanisms. The
product produced showed my technical approach into design and
manufacture. Overall I
was very proud of the
end product and also my
project as a whole.
