parent/guardian)

**Note: These are used solely for the purpose of members bringing in Guests
to the facility. They are NOT DAY PASSES for non-members.
If Guest Cards are not purchased, the cost of a Guest to come into the pool for the day;
child and/or adult, will be $15.00 per person, 2 years old and up at the Pool Gate.
NO Guest Cards will be sold at the pool facility. MUST purchase at the Rec. Office.

Registration for ALL swim lessons will only be taken at the Leonia
Pool. The first day of Registration is Saturday, June 2, 8:30 a.m. - 10:00
a.m. Registration is limited and will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
MUST BE A CURRENT POOL MEMBER TO JOIN LESSONS
AND SWIM TEAM.

Membership Fees can be paid in cash, by check or with the following major credit cards,

**PLEASE NOTE**
1. All new pool members are to show birth certificates all children under the age of 21 at the time of
registration. No registrations will be taken without birth certificates. This also applies to any
previous member who do not have them on file.
2. Membership passes are reusable each season. Do not discard! Passes must be present at the
time of registration. No exceptions will be made! Any lost or misplaced passes will be redone with a
$10.00 replacement fee.
3. No registrations or pictures are taken at the pool complex.

The following rules and regulations are set up for the health, welfare and safety of all
members. They have been established by the Leonia Recreation Commission, as well as the
NJ State Pool Code, to assure the safe and sanitary operation of the pool facilities. Failure to
comply with any of the rules is sufficient cause for immediate suspension or cancellation of
membership.
IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT THE LSC IS A SELF-FUNDING, NON TAXED BASED UTILITY. ALL
COSTS ARE FUNDED BY THE MEMBERSHIP FEES, NOT TAX DOLLARS.
SECTION 1 – MANAGEMENT
The pool is operated by a licensed, professional management staff and Red Cross Certified
Lifeguards. They are responsible for the maintenance, order and cleanliness of the pool
complex, and the enforcement of all rules and regulations. Proper respect and cooperation is
expected at all times.
SECTION 2 - ENFORCEMENT OF RULES
Pool members and their guests are relied upon to obey all rules and instructions of the pool
staff. The manager/asst. manager shall have the authority to suspend or terminate pool
privileges. Infractions will result in written warnings, and/or fines, which are posted at the
pool. Members having grievances and complaints are requested to refer them in writing to the:
Superintendent of Recreation, 370 Broad Avenue, Leonia, NJ 07605
SECTION 3 - GUEST CLASSIFICATION AND RULES
1. Guest bands are issued at the admissions gate. GUESTS WILL NOT BE PERMITTED IN THE POOL
COMPLEX UNLESS ACCOMPANIED BY A MEMBER. ANY MEMBER LEAVING THE
COMPLEX MUST REMOVE THEIR GUESTS AS WELL.
2. PLEASE NOTE: THE BABYSITTER PASS DOES NOT ALLOW FOR GUEST PRIVILEGES.
3. Each membership is permitted a maximum of 5 guests per day. **This privilege is for a Membership,
not individual members of that membership. Members are responsible for their guests' actions and
conduct.
4. Children under 12 are only permitted to bring in guests over the age of 14.
5. If there are unsafe conditions due to overcrowding, the Pool Manager/Asst. Manager has the right to refuse
admission to guests at his/her discretion.
6. In case of the pool closing due to inclement weather, fees may be refunded to those guests who have used
the facility for less than one hour.
7. All persons 2 years old and older entering the pool facility are required to pay the daily guest fee,
OR present Guest Pass, whether swimming or not.
SECTION 4 – HEALTH
1. Swimmers are required by the Board of Health to take showers before entering the pool.
2. Spitting, spouting of water and urination in the pool area is prohibited.
3. ALL ACCIDENTS SHOULD BE REPORTED TO THE OFFICE IMMEDIATELY. Accident
reports must be filled out within 24 hours.
4. Persons with skin disease, communicable diseases, open lesions, colds, nasal or ear discharges, will not be
allowed in the pool.
5. No disrobing or diaper changing is allowed outside of the bathhouses.
6. Children in diapers must wear rubber pants and bathing suits in the pool area.

SECTION 5 – SAFETY
1. NO FLOATATION DEVICES OR TOYS OF ANY KIND WILL BE PERMITTED
IN THE MAIN POOL WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM POOL STAFF.
2. No running, pushing, wrestling, or causing undue disturbance in or about the pool will be allowed. Food and
drinks are only permitted in refreshment area.
3. No glass bottles of any kind are permitted in pool enclosure.
4. NO SMOKING will be permitted within the Pool Complex. Those wishing to smoke must be outside the front
gate or in the parking lot.
5. The Kiddy Pool is limited to children 5 years of age and under. Supervision by a responsible person is required
at all times in the Kiddy pool area. Children may have rubber toys in the Kiddie Pool area.
SECTION 6 – DIVING / WATER SLIDING
1. Children under 10 years of age must pass Basic Water Test once a year in order to use diving boards
And/or the water slide. A band will be presented to the candidates who pass and must be worn to go off the
water slide or diving boards.
2. Diving is only permitted in designated areas. No general swimming in diving area.
3. Only one person allowed on a diving board and water slide at a time.
4. No horseplay in or around diving or water slide area.
5. Excessive bouncing is not allowed on the diving boards.
6. There is no pushing or rough play permitted on or around the water slide.
SECTION 7 - GENERAL
1. Children under 10 years of age will not be permitted in the pool area unless accompanied by a parent or
chaperone, age 14 years and over.
2. No pets are allowed on pool premises unless designated as a Professional Service Animal.
3. The presence of alcohol or intoxicated persons on pool premises is prohibited and is cause for immediate
suspension of privileges.
4. No transfer of membership cards is permitted.
5. Adult swim periods are scheduled at the discretion of Pool Manager/Asst. Manager.
6. Pool members may bring their own beach or lounge chairs. The Recreation Commission does not assume
responsibility for valuables brought or left at the pool.
7. The Pool Manager has the authority to close the pool whenever the safety of the patrons is endangered or during
inclement weather. This includes, CLOSING THE POOL EARLY IF THE WEATHER HAS BEEN BAD
FOR A LARGE PERCENTAGE OF THE DAY.
8. Patrons may bring their own refreshments to the food pavilion. Outside vendor deliveries are not permitted
within the pool complex.
9. Proper bathing attire must be worn. Street clothes, such as cut-off shorts, are not permissible as bathing attire.
Thong Bikinis are not permitted in pool facility.
10. Children under 12, not accompanied by an adult, must leave the pool grounds at 6:00 pm.
11. ALL CHILDREN UNDER 6 YEARS OF AGE, OR NON-SWIMMERS MUST BE ACCOMPANIED
IN THE WATER BY A PERSON 14 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER.
THE BOROUGH OF LEONIA IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ACCIDENTS WHICH
ARE A RESULT OF THE PARTICIPANTS INVOLVEMENT IN THE SWIM CLUB PROGRAM.
ANY MEDICAL TREATMENT FOR ANY ACCIDENT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PARTICIPANT’S OWN
MEDICAL INSURANCE.

HOW TO USE MAIL-IN REGISTRATION
1. Complete the Registration Form in Pool Booklet, also located on the website.
2. Attach check or money order payable to: Borough of Leonia
(DO NOT MAIL CASH).
3. Include proof of residency and last year’s passes. Proof or residency is: A PHOTO
DRIVER’S LICENSE, BERGEN COUNTY ID CARD WITH NON-PHOTO NJ
DRIVERS LICENSE OR BUSINESS PHOTO ID AND MORTGAGE OR
UTILITY BILL.
4. Mail to Recreation Office (discount memberships must be postmarked by April
30th
to be eligible for the discount).
5. 2018 passes will be returned to you, activated, when payment is processed.
