Duringlast yearinthe monthof July2015, I successfullygraduatedwitha2:1 honor inmy BA (hons)
degree inInternationalHospitalityManagement,whichIstudiedforthree yearsat Cardiff Metropolitan
University.Duringthe firsttwoyearsof mycourse,I undertookthe HigherNational Diploma(HND)
course in InternationalHospitalityManagement.Afterpassingthe HNDcourse at the endof the second
yearat University,Ithenmanaged tograduate ontothe thirdyear and the BA (Hons) Degree of
International HospitalityManagement,inwhichIsuccessfullygraduate on.The course itself wasbased
not juston hospitalityrelatedmodules,butitalsocomprisedof marketing,brandingandfinancial
coursesas well duringthe three yearsof study.AftergraduatingfromCardiff MetropolitanUniversity,I
thenappliedtostudyan MSc Master’s degree atBirminghamCityUniversity,inwhichthe University
was offeringgraduatesaJanuaryintake course andalsoa scholarshipscheme whichhelps onproviding
fundsforthe student’s course atBirminghamCityUniversity.The Master’sdegree itself wasadegree in
MSc ManagementandInternational Business,which ranfor15 months.
Afterapplyingforthe course andthe scholarship,Iwasthenrewardedwithanofferfromthe University
and alsoa scholarshipacceptance aswell,which thenestablishedme asan MSc Master postgraduate.
CurrentlyIhave justfinishedthe secondtermafterundertakingmoduleswhichincludedmodulessuch
as EntrepreneurshipandInnovation,OperationsManagementandStrategicMarketingManagement.
These modulesall consistedof PowerPointPresentations,Case StudiesandExams,inwhichhave helped
me expand myknowledge andpersonalskills formyfuture careerof these businesssectors.Ihave
thoroughlyenjoyedmytime onthe course since startinginJanuary and wouldlike gobackforthe next
termafter the summer,butdue to the high livingcostsinBirmingham, Iamunavailable togoback as
the scholarshipunfortunatelydidnotfundhousingcosts.Potentially,Iwill be lookingbacktogo to
Birminghaminthe future tofinishoff myMaster’sdegree.Asof now,I intendongainingmore
experience andskillspreferablyinthe Marketing,AdvertisingandHumanResource jobsectorsasthese
2. sectorswere veryinterestingtostudy at UniversityinCardiff andalsoBirmingham anditgave me great
benefitonmy improvingmypersonal skillsaswell.Itisalsowhere Isee myself inthe future of my
career,where Iwill be aimingtocontribute towardsthe overall successof anybusinessorcompanyI
workfor.
At the momentIam livingbackhome in Tenby,SouthWestWales,althoughthe jobsthatI am currently
searchingforare preferablylocatedinthe Cardiff andSwanseaareas,asI will be movingbackupto

workedondevelopingapresentationaboutaMexicanthemedrestaurantbeingadvertisedinCardiff.
Whilstbeingavaluable teammemberinthe teamsatuniversity,we successfullyworkedand
communicatedwelltogethertogaina pass grade in those modules.
Communication
I communicatedappropriatelyduringmytime atuniversitywithmyfellowcolleaguesandtutorsof the
course and alsoduringmy time onplacementduringmysecondyearwhichwasat the Cardiff and
CountyClub.Asthe 20 day placementincludedme beingpartof the bar staff,Icommunicatedina
fittingwaywiththe customersontakingtheirdrinksordersandalsowiththe fellow staff if there wasa
problemthatoccurredor if there wasanotherjobthat neededrequiring. Duringmystudiesonthe MSc
Master’sDegree inBirmingham,mycommunicationskillshasimprovedsignificantlyandIfeel thatIam
more than capable of dealingwithcustomersandalsofellow staff inasatisfyingandprofessional way.
Flexibility
3. A bigstrengthof mine whichI gainedduringmytime atuniversitywasmyflexibilityskillswhich
improved ona lot,as I wasable to cope withany changeshappeningduringplacementorduringan
module assignmentswhichneededtobe handedinat a shortertime.If there wasan unexpectedissue
that occurred,I was able torespondinthe mannerthat continuestocontribute tothe goals,suchas me
helpingtocontribute atthe placementorwiththe team'srequirementsforpassingthe group
assignmentatuniversity.
Organisation
Organisationisamajor skill towardsmyfuture careerpath.I have producedmyorganisationskills by
myself byorganisingmydeadlinesforassignmentsandalsoduringworkplacement,where i usedmy
skills to become more organised when I was left in charge of the bar when the other staff were on break.
Alsowiththe Master’sDegree beingquite intense,ithasmade me become increasinglyorganised,asI
am nowschedulingthe assignmentsIhadto doalongwiththe presentationsthatwere alsorequired
duringthe same time forthe differentcourses.
Numeracy
Numeracywasnot a strong pointof mine before Iwenttouniversity.Duringthe 3 years,Igainedan
increasingamountof numeracyskills,asI undertookthe finance managementcourseseachyearof my
hospitalitymanagementcourse inwhichIsucceededinpassingthe thirdandfinal finance management
course,inwhichhelpedtowardsgraduating.
Presentations
I feel thatafterbeinginvolvedinagreatamountof presentationsduringmytime atbothCardiff
MetropolitanandBirminghamCityUniversities,mypresentationsskillshave considerablyprogressed
throughoutthe yearssince myfirstyear at Cardiff Metropolitan.Throughoutthe presentations,I
presentedinagroupand alsoon my own as well,whichhelpedimprovedmyconfidence in
commutationskillsalongwithmypresentationsskillstoo.

the bar in the eveningwhen required. DuringthisyearinMarch 2016, I waspart of the bar staff at a
nightclubinBirminghamcalledSixonBroadStreet,inwhichIworkedthere whenIhad daysoff at
University,mostlybeingonthe weekends.The jobinvolvedservingdrinkstopeople andalsocollecting
glassesaswell duringbusyperiod.AsIhave finishedmytermat UniversityinBirminghamandhave
movedbackhome to southwestWales,Ihave now finishedmytime atthe nightclub.
Hobbies& Interests
Sport
I enjoya lotsportwhetheritsplayingorwatchingit.My favourite typesof sportinclude rugby,football,
basketball andtennis.Iplayrugbyformylocal rugbyclubTenbyUnitedsometimes,butduringmylast
of universityIplayedalocal clubin Cardiff calledLlandaff.One of myothersportinghobbiesinvolves
goingto the gym whichI enjoydoingandusuallyvisitaround5 to 6 timesperweek.
Socializing
I like tosocialize withmyfriendsbackat home andalsoat universityinCardiff aswell bydoingactivities
whenI have time off suchas goingout aroundthe towncentre or visitingasportingeventsuchasa
5. football orrugbymatch. Alsoafterwork, I like tosocialize withpeople orfellowstaff afterfinishingmy
shift.
Travellinginthe future
AnotherinterestthatIwouldlike todoistravellingasI wouldlike tovisitdifferenttypesof countries
aroundthe worldandexperience theircultureswhilstmeetingnew people andmakingnew friends.
