3. INTRODUCTION
Gi-Fi or Gigabit Wireless is the world's first transceiver
integrated broadband chip based on CMOS process. It can
be easily embedded into devices that operates at 60GHz.
Gi-Fi allows wireless transfer of audio and video data upto
5 gigabits per second (i.e.) more than 5 billion bits per
second.
Gi-Fi facilitates wireless data transfer in an indoor
environment with a span of 10 meters.
5. CURRENT TECHNOLOGIES
The existing technologies are:
BLUETOOTH
WI-FI(Wireless Fidelity)
The above mentioned existing technologies stay behind from
Gi-Fi in terms of:
Low range of frequency operation
Slow speed of data transfer
High power consumption
6. WHY GI-FI?
Gi-Fi uses the frequency range of 57-64Ghz(7Ghz).
This is because of high oxygen absorption at 60 Ghz.
This absorption attenuates signals over distance so that the
signal cannot travel beyond the intended receiver.
Using Gi-Fi, large amount of files can be swapped within
seconds.

9. ARCHITECTURE OF GI-FI
A Gi-Fi system works based on a subscriber station with a
small antenna.
This subscriber system is available to several access points
surrounding it.
It satisfies the standards of IEEE 802.15.3C (i.e.)Wireless
PAN.
It supports line of sight operation.
10. WORKING OF GI-FI
Gi-Fi system works on the basis of TDD(Time Division
Duplex) for both transmission and reception of data.
Gi-Fi uses Radio waves for data transfer.
The incoming radio wave frequency is converted into IF and
the data is thus transferred.
It uses heterodyne principle to avoid leakage of data.
11. ADVANTAGES
Excellent immunity to co-channel interference
High security
Frequency re-use
High speed data transfer
Cost effective
High portability due to smaller size
Numerous users within a small geographic area
16. CONCLUSION
Gi-Fi Technlogy stands ahead of existing systems like
BlueTooth and Wi-Fi.
It gives a hope that it will be a trending technology
occupying the future.
