LaTasha Johnson-Saulsberry ~ Training Specialist: Youngstown Office
Educate Your Participants
Explain and discuss what the Employer Based Training Program is and how it works
Show your participants the benefits for them as well as the potential employer
Discuss the EBT program as a “Topic” at one of your Quarterly Meetings or Monthly Trainings
Have a Good Supply
Make sure to have a good supply of EBT materials (these materials can be customized to each
individual office by our marketing department)
EBT Fact Sheet & Brochures (can be found on our website):
http://www.matureservices.org/ets/docs/ebt/ebt_faq.pdf
Other items to distribute: pamphlets, flyers, your business cards and EBT postcards
Make it Fun - Start with Job Club
As part of the “Networking” assignment for the Youngstown’s office Job Club, participants are
given a set amount of EBT materials to distribute to employers, the person who distributes the
most, wins a prize at the end of Job Club
Participants collect employer business cards, information and material, the person who collects
the most also wins a prize
Put Your Job Search Cooperative Group to Work
Use Job Search Logs to market the program
Members in JSC can market the program by cold calling empolyers
Use our very own Call Center to help with marketing campaigns
Make it Easy on the Potential Employer
Have a list of qualified applicants ready with resumes (your caseload)
Meet with the employer and participant in-person
Help the potential employer come up with job descriptions (as needed)
Negotiate better wages/salaries and hours for participants
Never offer the full 12 weeks of training up-front, for longer training periods offer around 6-8
weeks (these tend to work better than the full 12 weeks)
The EBT contract should be completed and filled out so all the employer has to do is sign
Have open, weekly communications with the employer as well as the participant
