1. What does our thriller represent?
The 3 main focuses of our film was to represent Gender, Age and Class in a
‘negative’ way.
2. With gender we portrayed the fury with an alpha male, the
chase scene shows that we were able to edit and show case
the film in a way that shows power to the male gender. No
females being present in the opening to our thriller shows a
stereotypical view, this is due to the fact that there is a fast
chase scene, these types of openings are not usually
associated with women.
3. Age is shown in the opening to our thriller to show a certain
image. The youthfulness of the actors was key because of
the setting, cinematography and editing.
Block of flats
Run down area
Fast editing and POV shots
Rap/Grime genre of the soundtrack to the thriller
These all contributed to the age of the cast.
The stereotype of a teenager to an older viewing audience
allowed us to show off what makes our film, with a fast
paced scene showing anger and the young actors as
dangerous people.
Also it was easy to use myself in the sequence as I could get
things how I wanted them, I could shoot when I was
available.
4. The relative class of the actors and the setting shows that this
film is about the lower classes.
The block of flats in which we filmed in were in a part of
Dagenham that’s ‘run down’ this therefore influences and
portrays the class of the area.
This correlates with the actors, they are wearing tracksuits,
baggy jeans indicating a certain style or ‘street’ dress code
that is familiar to the lower classes. The style of music that is
used is Rap/Grime, this is music that has originated and was
formed by lower, poorer people within the UK and even
Amercia.
