The Lakewood Council of PTAs
Founded in 1952, The Lakewood Council of PTAs represents
all of the PTA/PTSA schools within the Lakewood City
Schools district.
We provide assistance and encouragement to local PTA/PTSA
members, provide leadership development through workshops
and programs for members and the community, promote
membership, and give service to the local school community by
developing coalitions with other organizations and agencies
concerned with the health, welfare and education of children
and youth.
Council offers a forum for the unbiased presentation and
discussion of issues relevant to the Lakewood community and
serves as a two-way channel of communication between the
public and schools.
How to Join a PTA or PTSA
For more information on joining your child’s school PTA or
PTSA (middle schools), contact Lakewood Council of PTAs at
lakewoodcouncil@gmail.com.
Membership forms and additional information is always
provided at your child’s school and on the Lakewood City
Schools website. Go to www.lakewoodcityschools.org and
click on the For Parents tab.
Meetings
The Lakewood Council of PTAs holds meetings on the first
Wednesday of each month at 7pm during the school year
(September-April). In May, we hold our annual Installation &
Recognition Social. Meetings are located at the Lakewood
Board of Education, 1470 Warren Rd, usually in the Board
Auditorium. Lakewood Council of PTAs meetings are open to
the community.
Our Mission
• A powerful voice for all children
• A relevant resource for families and communities
• A strong advocate for the education and well-being
of every child
Being a PTA member shows your children that school is
important and that even though you may be busy you
are there to support them. It also allows you to develop
closer relationships with other parents and staff members at
the school.
Heather Facaros, Horace Mann Elementary
The Purpose of PTA
• To promote the welfare of children and youth in home, school,
community, and place of worship
• To raise the standards of home life
• To secure adequate laws for the care and protection of children
and youth
• To bring into closer relation the home and the school, that
parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the
education of children and youth
• To develop between educators and the general public such
united efforts as will secure for all children and youth the
highest advantages in physical, mental, social, and spiritual
educationand youth
Lakewood Early Childhood PTA is a wonderful
organization for families with little ones in Lakewood.
With playgroups, field trips, and community programming,
LECPTA has given me the opportunity to meet new friends
and be part of something wonderful for Lakewood families.
Lakewood has so much to offer residents and LECPTA has so
much to offer families. The dynamic duo!
Colleen de Boer, Lakewood Early Childhood PTA
