Shelter Medicine Rotation November 30, 2009- December 11, 2009
o Rotation that emphasizes general examinations and surgery of animals in
shelter and rescue organizations. Students act as the primary doctor for all
of their patients and do all physical examinations as well as spays and neuters
o During this two-week rotation I spayed six puppies and three kittens as well as
neutered five puppies and two kittens

o Visited an elementary school and discussed with students various aspects of April 2009
veterinary medicine as well as the basics of veterinary care for their pets.
Operation Catnip 2007-2011
o Local organization that operates monthly spay and neuter clinics for feral
cats and kittens in the Gainesville area
o I have volunteered for this organization since 2007 and have worked in various
areas within the clinic including recently neutering and spaying animals.
Through this organization I have neutered 16 cats and kittens and have spayed
11 cats and kittens and am continuing to volunteer for this organization
