The November company meeting covered department updates, IT topics including Teams commands and searching history, the monthly spam report, and an executive Q&A session. IT topics focused on the Teams command bar and searching command history. The meeting concluded with employees sharing updates.
GREETINGS
Welcome everyone! I’ll be your host for the next 30 minutes. I’d like to get started by asking DeeDee to set a 30 minute timer. Please and thank you!
NOVEMBER BIRTHDAYS
It looks like we have a few birthdays this month, Josh and Cody will be celebrating, and I have one as well.
Like every year, I try to take off in celebration of my birthday to give me a day to rest and relax, (kind of like my own personal holiday) I highly recommend giving it a try!
DEPARTMENT UPDATESI think Alanda / admin has somethings going on… Alanda?
- Suggestion Box
Flu Shot Clinic
Other stuff?
Going down the list here, FROM OUR IT DEPARTMENT…As promised in last months meeting, I wanted to continue updating you all on some of the great features Teams has to offer.
Today I’ll be quickly going over how to search your conversation history, along with looking at some commands you can issue Teams.
Last month I went over a bunch of things you can do with Teams and one thing I spoke about specifically was the Chat function.
Some one mentioned that you could search for chats you’ve had in the past, but what if you were trying to find a date of a recent chat?
a file that was sent ?
or even what you talked about?
Well, there’s this handy little command bar at the very top of Teams that lets you search for anything you want. - Just click in the box and start typing, and it’ll show results for any conversations you’ve had involving whatever you searching for.
You can also add the name of the person you had the conversation with, along with what you are searching for.
For example, here I typed in Donna and audio, trying to figure out what day she had asked me about an issue she was having. It returned quite a few results.
I knew this happened within the last week…
so I can click the filter button
And it will show me filtering options and I can pick Last week.
Now that I have it filtered down to just a single result, I can see we had this conversation on 11/2.
Not only can you filter your search results by date, but there are a lot of other options you can filter by.
.
So what else can I search for besides history? With the command bar you can search for News, Weather and even your favorite funny cat videos (or in Thomas’s case Lamas) on Youtube.
You can also issue slash commands. If you want to find the latest features of Teams, you can type /whatsnew and it’ll show you everything that’s been added in the last update.
You can also set your status with different slash commands like /brb, /away, available and /dnd (no not dungeons and dragons, but do not disturb).
One last thing I wanted to talk about real quick is our spam email of the month.
Last month I spoke about emails that were being sent from someone posing as Armando, who was trying to get your cell phone number (from you texting them) and ultimately your money. This month’s spam email comes from someone posing as Rackspace, trying to get your login info to your email account. Some of you may not know, Rackspace is our email provider and you can login to their webmail system to check your email (not just through Outlook).
- First, check out the email address that the message was sent from. Rackspace is missing an a, and no, that’s not a spelling mistake they sent it from rckspace.com.
- Next, there is no signature representing who this is from. There is no name attached to this email.
That’s all from the IT department for this week, next we’ll go to Customer Serivce, Dorris? Karren? (Live Chat)Sales, Kevin? (Update on Sales reps)
Marketing, David? (golf tournie, Clean Gulf Show, BIC Alliance!)
Finally Trish and Kennadie? (Fall Fest)
Fall Fest!
Now it’s time for Q & A with the Executive Team, since Gwen is out, if anyone has a question for Armando feel free to ask, now’s your chance!
Does anyone else have anything to share? Any thing we should know, achievements of personal goals, our build team? Anyone?
Thanks for coming, refreshments are in the back, I think DeeDe brought some home-made pumpkin pie and pumpkin bread! Enjoy!
