WHO WE AREWHO WE ARE
My Brother’s Keeper Inc. was
founded in 2003 by Harry F.
Sydney. It is a non-profit organization
with a mission to provide Straight Talk
and Sound Direction to individuals
who lack necessary life coping skills.
All persons are welcome, regardless of
race, creed, and ethnic background.
Participants range from troubled young
boys to men who are struggling with
relationships, jobs, finances, and their
life goals.
We have helped thousands of boys and
men change their lives. Remember, it’s
not where you come from, it’s where
you are going that counts!
President and Founder
we can
help
“I have watched several young
men who were struggling to lead a
productive life change themselves
into men with integrity and pride.”
			 -Superintendent
Brown County Juvenile Detention Center
WHO DO WE HELP? HOW DO WE HELP?
One-on-one mentoring:
Clients meet for 45 to 60 minutes with one of
our mentors. Problem areas are discussed, and
plans are made for the individuals to become
accountable, responsible, and to take control
of their lives based on a philosophy created by
Harry Sydney called “The IRS Code”: Integrity,
Respect, and Standards. The cost for a session
is $50, but we will provide mentoring services
for any amount
that can be
afforded.
Group forum
sessions:
Group forum
sessions are currently provided at area schools.
They deal with issues affecting juveniles
and help provide the life skills necessary to
proactively prevent delinquent behavior.
RESULTS WE SEE:
• Increased self discipline and self respect
• Responsibility for personal actions
• Respect for others
• Reduction/elimination of destructive behavior
• Improved grades and school attendance
• Ability to set measurable and achievable goals
• Stronger, healthier relationships
“It’s rare that I can involve at-risk students in an intervention that they
look forward to. And it’s even more rare that I find one that actually
produces results. To find a program that does both, one that students
enjoy and one that changes their behavior? Rare as hen’s teeth.”
-School Principal
Boys and men with:
• Drug and alcohol use
• Domestic abuse
• Depression
• Anxiety
• Job loss
• Low self esteem
• Anger management
• Academic failure
• Gang violence
Court ordered AODA (Alcohol or other drug
abuse) assessments:
To meet the needs of the community, My Brother’s
Keeper offers AODA assessments. They are typically
a court ordered procedure, but are available to
anyone who is concerned with an individual’s
alcohol or drug abuse. Asssessments are a private
and confidential
meeting in which
the individual’s
lifestyle and
choices are
examined to
identify problem
areas. Strategies
are then discussed to help the individual determine
how to improve quality of life. Ongoing sessions to
review progress are determined on an individual
basis. To schedule an appointment, call (920) 884-1150.
