8. Vishvakarma Mandir situated at Banga Road is one of the oldest sacred places.
Vishvakarma or visva-karman "all-accomplishing; all-creator“, is the Hindu
presiding deity of all craftsmen and architects. The literal meaning of the title
Vishvakarma is “all-maker” (vishva means „all‟ and karman means „maker‟ or „doer‟).
He is believed by Hindus to be the "Principal Universal Architect", the architect who
fabricated and designed the divine architecture of the Universe, the Lord of Creation.

9. India is the birth place of four of the world's major religious traditions; namely
Hinduism, Jainism, Buddhism and Sikhism. Throughout its history, religion has been an
important part of the country's culture. Religious diversity and religious tolerance are
both established in the country by law and custom. A vast majority of Indians associate
themselves with a religion.
A Mandir is a place of worship, i.e. a temple.
It is a Hindi word and usually refers to a Hindu place of worship.
The mandir houses the idols of the Hindu dieties.
They are worshipped and prayers are offered.
A gurdwara meaning the Gateway to the Guru, is a place of worship for Sikhs, the
followers of Sikhism.
Gurmukhi is the most common script used for writing the Punjabi language, that is one
of the Indian languages.

15. Depictions of Vishvakarma :
Wise and mighty, Vishvakarma is usually portrayed as a powerfully built and
aged deity. Although the Rig Veda describes him as having “eyes, mouth, arms
and feet on all sides”, most popular representations show Vishvakarma with
one face and four arms. He is usually depicted covered in gold jewelry, holding a
water pot, a book, a noose and craftsman‟s tools in his four hands. Because he
represents an active creative power, Vishvakarma is portrayed with a reddish
hue, with red being the color of passion and activity in Hindu philosophy. His
mount, like Brahma, is a white swan.
Vishvakarma is the father of five great Hindu sages according to the Vedas,
each of whom was master of a craft. Highly talented and versatile in their own
fields, the sons of Vishvakarma were respectively the first blacksmith, first
carpenter, first founder, first mason and first goldsmith. Each gave rise to the
major artistic lineage in their respective fields, and artisans and craftsman in
India continue to identify themselves with Vishvakarma through his sons.

22. GURUDWARA SHRI SUKHCHAIN SAHIB is situated
the Phagwara City, Distt Kapurthala. After winning the
battle at Kartarpur and Plahi, SHRI GURU
HARGOBIND SAHIB JI came to resi of Phagu, a great
devotee of GURU SAHIB. But when Phagu came to know
that GURU SAHIB had come here after fight with Mughals
and he thought Mughals might be following him also, he was
frightened and did not serve GURU SAHIB. GURU
SAHIB said "PHAGU DA WADA, BAHRON MITHA
ANDRO KHARA" GURU SAHIB came here and rested
under tree....

used for a pool. Many historic
Gurdwaras in India have a
Sarovar incorporated in the
Gurdwara building complex.
The devotees who visit these
shrines will bathe in these
pools as the Sikhs believe that
spiritual and worldly benefits
are gained by immersing in the
holy waters of these Sarovars.

28. In northern India it is the only place where 12 Shivlings (a representation of the
Hindu deity Shiva used for worship in temples) has been established in Geeta
Bhavan. At the back we can see the idol of Lord Shiva.

30. The Bell, known in Sanskrit as the Ghanta/Ghanti is used in all poojas for invoking the
Gods. The ringing of the bell produces what is regarded as an auspicious sound. It
produces the sound Om, the universal name of the Lord. There should be auspiciousness
within and without, to gain the vision of the Lord who is all-auspiciousness.
Another significance of ringing the bell is that they help drown any inauspicious or
irrelevant noises and comments that might disturb or distract the worshippers in their
devotional ardor (dedication), concentration and inner peace.

Means:
I ring this bell indicating the invocation of divinity, So that virtuous and noble forces
enter (my home and heart); And the demonic and evil forces from within and without,
depart.

34. Area in front of the Townhall. At the end we can see the statue of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, pre-
eminent political and ideological leader of India during the Indian independence movement. Gandhi led
India to independence and inspired movements for civil rights and freedom across the world. Gandhi is
often referred to as Mahatma , In India, he is also called Bapu and officially honoured as the Father of the
Nation.

36. Hanuman is a Hindu deity, who is an ardent devotee of Rama, a central character in the Indian epic
Ramayana. A general among the vanaras, an ape-like race of forest-dwellers, Hanuman is an incarnation
of the divine and a disciple of Lord Rama in the struggle against the demon king Ravana.
