Education
B.S. Industrial Engineering | University of Arkansas | August 2016
Scholarship
New Arkansan Non-Resident In-State Tuition Award, 4 years, valued at $40,000
Educational Highlights
Senior Project: J.B. Hunt Inventory Management, Project Manager | January 2016-May 2016
Challenge: Reduce ordering costs by ensuring optimal levels of inventory, minimizing unnecessary
back stock, and reducing the need to order supplies from a third party.
Delivered: Designed decision support tool to assistLDC managers with accurate inventory counts and
alerts as to when orders need to be placed. Developed Arena simulation model to estimate the
performance of the recommendations and determine a minimum safety stock level for each LDC.
Recommendations were estimated to save $50,000 in ordering costs.
Learned: How to design and implement optimal inventory processes that meet desired needs, design
and lead presentation to deliver results to multiple executives and department heads, as well as honing
my skills with Arena, PowerPoint, Excel, and VBA coding
Simulation Project: IIE-Rockwell Airport System Simulation Problem, Presentation Leader | August
2015-December 2015
Challenge: Redesign airport layout to minimize delays, wait time, and missed flights for passengers as
a result of TSA security lines.
Delivered: Our team used Arena software to run simulations and cost analyses to develop multiple
system layouts that reduce time spent in security lines from 5 – 16 minutes and 1% of passengers
missing flights.
Learned: How to lead and communicate with a team, present in front of world recognized
researchers, simulate and animate in Arena, and conduct cost analysis for major projects to conclude
optimal decisions.
Industrial Cost Analysis Problem: Deltic Timber Sawmill Implementation, Presentation and Research
Leader | January 2014-May 2014
Challenge: Research factors such as: cost to open, cost to run, cost to close, products made, etc. for
Deltic Timber who considered opening new sawmills around the state of Arkansas.
Delivered: Analyzed company’s annual report and conducted cost analysis of operations and
concluded opening a new sawmill would not be beneficial to company.
Learned: Efficient research strategies, how to conduct cost analysis, and bettered presentation and
computer skills.
