13. Capital Expenditure on
exploration-
India's top oil and gas producer ONGC on Thursday said it will invest Rs 31,000
crore over the next three years in exploring the Indian sedimentary basin for
fuel reserves which could augment the nation's production in its attempt to
be self-reliant in the energy sector.
India is 85 per cent dependent on imports to meet its oil needs and half of the
natural gas requirement is shipped from abroad. Finding and producing
more oil and gas domestically will cut this reliance, helping insulate the
domestic market from volatility in international energy prices.
This exploration will be funded by both ONGC and Indian government.
ONGC is trying to probe around 1,700 million tonnes of oil and oil equivalent
gas (MMTOE) of yet-to-find (YTF) reserves during FY 2022-25.

14. ONGC On Renewable Energy-
ONGC and Greenko set to splash $6.2 billion on Indian green hydrogen and
renewable projects.
This could lead to the development of 5.5 to 7 gigawatts of solar and wind
power projects, along with plans for producing green hydrogen.
The renewable energy component of the chain would cost about $5 billion,
while the hydrogen and ammonia plant would require an additional $ 1.2
billion.
The activities envisaged under this MoU will contribute towards India’s target
of producing 5 million tonnes of green hydrogen per annum by 2030.

15. ONGC VIDESH
ONGC Videsh is the first Indian Company to produce equity oil and gas abroad.
ONGC Videsh’s production started in 2002-03 with commencement of production of Block 06.1
in Vietnam in January 2003.
With sustained growth in production from its acquired assets, ONGC Videsh’s production
reached 9.448 MMTOE in 2010-11.
Adverse geo-political conditions in North Eastern Africa and force majeure situation in Syria
caused decline in oil production to a level 7.260 MMTOE in 2012-13.
However, in 2013-14, 2014-15 and 2015-16, production increased to the level of 8.357
MMTOE, 8.874 MMTOE and 8.916 MMTOE, primarily due to better management and addition in
the portfolio. With acquisition of 26% stake in Vankorneft, Russia in 2016 and 4% stake in
Lower Zakum Concession, UAE in 2018; production of ONGC Videsh has increased to 12.803
MMTOE for 2016-17 and 14.833 MMTOE in 2018-19.
ONGC Videsh reached highest ever production of oil and oil equivalent gas (O+OEG) of 14.891
MMtoe during 2019-20.
