1. Keishorne Scott was born in Trinidad, but raised
in Barbados until he was eight years old. He then
moved to Brooklyn, NY and has been a resident
there ever since. While growing up in Brooklyn,
Keishorne knew he was going to be the one to
make a change in his community. Inspired by
friends and loved ones, Keishorne knew he had
the drive, love and support to pursue his dreams.
Growing up as an immigrant wasn't easy for
Keishorne. It came with a lot restriction, for
example, where he was able to attend school. His
mother had to work three jobs once his father
became very ill. His father couldn't work to the
same capacity as he once did. His mother became
the main provider for the household soon after.
Being an immigrant taught Keishorne that a great
life is not always handed to you at a young age, or
at any age. Keishorne realized that it was up to
him to change his life and do something worth
remembering. Although Keishorne was not able
to work for some time because he did not have the
right paperwork, he did not allow that to determine the type of man he would become.
