Period 3
Beowulf
1. Hrothgar was the king. He was made out to be a fat drunk who slept around.
Welthow was the queen. She was made out to be a young beautiful woman. She
looked much younger than the king. Beowulf was made out to be a young strong
handsome man. Grendel was made out to be an ugly monster. Grendel’s mother
was a young beautiful woman. Unferth was a drunk. Wiglaf is a courageous and
loyal man.
2. 5th and 6th century Scandinavian countries.
3. Yes. The women were treated in the movie how they were treated in those days.
4. Hrothgar was not the father of Grendel. The poem did not even mention Hrothgar
and Grendel’s mother being romantically involved. Grendel’s mother is portrayed
as a monster not covered in gold looking like Angelina Jolie. Beowulf does not
stay and marry the queen. Beowulf does not kill the dragon.
5. When Beowulf saw Grendel’s mother. I did not expect her to look the way she
did.
6. To make it more entertaining.
7. The monsters represent evil. Beowulf is heroic which represents good.
8. With todays generation, I thought the PG-13 rating was fine.
