My Narrative
My narrative started1992. Graduationof highschool,Isetout to playsports,full ride scholarship. My
life wassetinplayingprofessionalleagues,andpayforcollege throughmyscholarshipsof sportsand
government. Ireceivedtwoscholarshipsthroughplayingbasketball andstudentgovernment. Iwent
intothe militaryin1994, duringdesertstorm, to serve my country. I receivedfull ridescholarshipsfor
Militarybasketball league,Iwasable to go to anyuniversityinthe state of Illinoisforfree,andpaidfor
due to my bonusfordesertstorm. At that time,Istruggledwithself-esteem, andduringmilitarystress,I
was violatedbythe male staff. Theydischargedme withmilitarystressascausedof release,“Military
Convenience.” Atthat time,Iwas mentallyandemotionallyunhealthy,andthe therapyandtreatmentI
had to endure waschallengingandeverydayseemlike Iwasmakingbabystepstorecovery. Aftereight
years,I returnedbackto school,andI movedto Oregon. The therapyinOregonwasexcellent,andthe
resourceshadbeententimesbetterthanthe Midwest,Kansas. Ibeganto relearnthe Englishlanguage
due to trauma. I had to relearnsome of the mostimportantthingsinlife since mycognitive process
wentback to the age of 4 to 6th grade. I lost somuch trainingdue tothe psycho-nervousbreakdown. I
was a personwithdeterminationandintegrity,andthisallowedme tobuildrelationshipsinlegislation,
and I beganmyjourneyas MLK Commissioner,OregonBoardDirector,Vice Presidentof NOW,andthe
listgoeson,at 26, I startedto reclaimmymomentumphysically,butmentallyand emotionally,Istill
struggledtocatch up withmy age,due to nightterrors,depression,paranoiaandtriggers. Nomatter,I
wentto OregonState Universityafterapplyingtothe college more than10 times,the policieschanged,
and myscores were notthe onlythingthat theyevaluated. Iwasacceptedin the college. Igraduated.
2004-2011.
Financial Aidbecame myresource togoto college,technologytobe successful incollege,andother
materialsthatkeepthe studentwithdisabilitiesequal. It wasthe firstyearI startedto receive financial
aid. Loans were includedinmygrantsand scholarships. Itwasa challengingroad. Duringthose years,I
was convictedonmisdemeanors,divorcedbymyfirsthusband,andhomelessnesswhenhe tookmyhalf
of the businessandhouse Icontributed. Iwasnotconsciousmy rightsandlostmy parental rightsas a
stepmotherbecause Ididnot adopthischildren. The youngestchildwaslike myonlyson. Iwentintoa
depression,andIaskedto be acceptedby therapistasherclient. Iwas referredbya counselorat
OregonState University. Atthattime,2006, I have beenworkingwithhertothisveryday. I have not
onlycoachedover500 youthsor more inmy life time,trainedasa paidinstructorequallyas much,and
contributedinmanycommunitiesregardlessof myhealthbecause Icared. In2011, I wentto Jones
International Universitybecause myhealthwasnotinthe bestlight,soI decidedtogoonline,goingto
classwas gettingharder,andI had to finda betterwayto manage myillnessandstill stayontrack with
2. my goalsand dreams. Financial Aidhasbeenthe opportunitytogive me achance to go to school.
Somethingthatnotmanyin mycommunityhasachieved. School alone ishardwork,butfinancial
stabilitytogoto school increase the challenge andhardship.
Critical Reflections
I am goingto be a fosterparent. Iam runningas a Vice PresidentCandidate for2016, and hiredas a
campaigndeveloperforasocial change,grassrootscandidate, andbuildingmyownchange agencyto
assistpeople,leaders,companiesbycoachingthem, trainingthem, educatingthem, andbuilding
systems,policiesandpracticesthatare holisticandtherapeuticforthe goalsof sustainabilityand
longevityforequality,socialjustice,environmental justice andrestorativejustice,inawin/win
environment,sopeopleandpopulationsare able tolive inenvironmentsthathave the ambiance of
sustainability,andrewardinglivesthatfulfillingandqualitycare hasbeen increased,mortalityrates
decreaseddue tothe paradigmshiftof itsprofessionalsandrecipientsof the services:atransformative
world. I couldnot have beenable todosuch a featwithoutthe contributionof Financial Aid,the
education,educators,andthe systemthathasbroughtme thisfar inmy journey. All the contributions
that have beenmy“village thatraisedme”hasallowedme toarrive inthisday,to write thisletter,Iam
workinghardnot to receive failinggrades. Iam committedinpracticinggoodtechniques,learningfrom
the defective ones,andinventingnew andimprovedwaystoincrease mychancestoresolve conflict
and dissatisfactionreporting. Aftermyjourneyof 1992 to 2015, I have twoyears leftbefore Igraduate,
and I will be adoctorate of BusinessAdministration,(DBA),atthattime,Iwill beginmyjourneytobe an
online educatorinacollege orinclassroomeducatorin a Universityif it’saffordedtome. Regardless,I
will teachevenif Ihave to volunteermyservices bygoingintopoorcommunitiesandsettingupschools
for children,teenagers,youngadults,incarcerationorelderstohave aplace to learn,be coached,
trained,andguidedintoacritical thinker,social change agent,andelevatedtransformativecitizen of the
universe andtheirowncommunities.Iam willingtouse mydegreesonbothfronts. I am workingon
speakingaroundthe world,coachingininstitutions,corporations,andbusinesses,alongwithindividuals
to learnhowto builda MaslowHierarchysystemthatincrease qualitycare ineducation,trainingand
services. Inthe end,mygoal regardlessif Iam electedtobe Vice Presidentwiththe Candidate Hahn,I
planto stay on taskwithmy childhooddream, astobe a scientistandprofessor. MyniecesIhave
taught,and all theirfriendshowtobe thinkers,investigatorsandcritical thinkers. Forthat reason,
school ismore than therapy,as to restorative justice methodologyandrehabilitationforthe mind,
trainingthe brain,andtraininggrounds forworkingenvironmentsbutalsoacampus to developandthe
developmentof the brain:mindfrominjuryanddamage.
