1. MISSION
To provide tools and strategies effective for the personal
development of young women; this is with the intent that
success is experienced both internal and external in every
area of their lives.
PROGRAM AT A GLANCE
The ANOMALY is an all-girls personal development
program created for middle and high school students. This
program utilizes a social emotional learning model to
address the "whole" female. This model puts an emphasis
on five key competencies and those are: self-awareness,
social awareness, self-management, relationship skills and
responsible decision making. These competencies provide
the foundation for maintaining high-quality social
relationships and for responding to the challenges of life.
The development of these competencies provide a
foundation for better adjustment and academic
performance as reflected in more positive social behaviors
and peer relationships, fewer conduct problems, less
emotional distress, and improved grades and test scores.
PROGRAM GOALS
Increase in academic performance: timeliness, increased
classroom attentiveness, class/homework submission,
advocacy for assistance, improvement in grades and test
scores
Improved attitudes and behavioral outcomes: greater
motivation to learn, deeper commitment to school,
increased time devoted to schoolwork, and better
classroom behavior;
Reduction in negative behaviors: decreased disruptive
class behavior, tardiness and poor attendance,
noncompliance, inappropriate and explicit behaviors,
aggression, delinquent acts, and disciplinary referrals;
Decreased emotional distress: fewer reports of student
depression, anxiety, stress, low self-esteem and social
withdrawal.
