2. Visha Utpathi
• मथ्यमाने जलननधावमृतार्थे सुरासुरैः ।
जातैः प्रागमृतोत्पत्ेैः पुरुषो घोरदर्शनैः ।।
दीप्ततेजो चतुदंष्ट्र ो हररक
े र्ोऽनलेक्षणैः|
जगद्धिषण्णं तं दृष्ट्वा तेनासौ नवषसंनितैः ||
हंक
ृ तो ब्रह्मणा मूती ततैः स्र्थावरजङ्गमे |
सो अध्यनतष्ट्निजं रूपमुद्धझित्वा वञ्जनात्मकम् ||
(A.H.U.35/1-2)

3. • During Samudra mathana, the Gods and the demons
churned the Ksheerasagara to obtain Amrita.
• Anyhow, even before Amrita evolved, a ferocious
looking person who was magnificent with aura and who
had four fangs, yellowish-brown hair and fiery eyes
emerged called as Visha purusha.
• The world became despaired at his sight and due to this
he was called as Visha.

4. • अमृतार्थं समुद्रे तु मथ्यमाने सुरासुरैः ।
जिे प्रागमृतोत्पत्ेैः पुरुषो घोरदर्शनैः ।।
दीप्ततेजाश्चतुदंष्ट्र ो हररक
े र्ो ऽनलेक्षणैः । जगनिषण्णं
तं दृष्ट्वा तेनासौ नवषसंनितैः ।। जंगमस्र्थावरायां
तद्योनौ ब्रह्मा न्ययोजयत् । तदम्बुसम्भवं तस्माद्
निनवधं पावकोपशमम् ।।
(Cha.Chi.23/4-6)

5. • प्रजानममामात्पयोनेब्रशह्मणैः सृजतैः नकल।
अकरोदसुरो नवघ्नं कटभो नाम दनपशतैः ।।
तस्य क्र
ु िस्य व वक्त्राद्ब्रह्मणस्तेजसी ननधे: ।
क्रोधो नवग्रहवान् भूत्वा ननपपातानतदारुणैः ।।
स तं ददाह गजशन्तमन्तकाभं महाबलम् ।
ततोऽसुरं घातनयत्वा तत्ेजोऽवधशताद् भुतम् ।।
ततो नवषादो देवानामभवत्ं ननरीक्ष्य व।
नवषादजननत्वाच्च नवषनमत्यनभधीयते ।।
ततैः सृष्ट्वा प्रजाैः र्ेषं तदा तं क्रोधमीश्वरैः ।
नवन्यस्तवान् स भूतेषु स्र्थावरेषु चरेषु च।। (Su.K.3/18-22)

6. • In the beginning of creation, a proud and arrogant demon
called Kaitabha caused many hindrance in the process of the
creation of Lord Brahma.
• By this, Lord Brahma was extremely angry and this anger
resulted in the production of a very dreadful person who killed
the demon Kaitabha.
• But even after the death of Kaitabha, his anger went on
increasing and created sadness or depression among the Gods.
• Hence he was named as Visha, for creating the feeling of
"Vishada" i.e. depression or sadness in the Gods.
