ASHLIN: Good morning, I’m Ashlin Robison and my co-host this morning is Emily Bagushinkski.
Welcome to the Haven Half. Today we are bringing you ways to take celebrate the end of finals, a
look at the paintball club and a first look at the new movie “Frozen”, but first the news.
In national news, President Barack Obama, Former President George W. Bush, Secretary of State’s
Hilary Clinton and first ladies Michelle Obama and Laura Bush left the country to attend the

EMILY: The wife of an American pastor begged to a House Committee in foreign affairs to free her
husband from Iran on Thursday, December 12th. It’s believed that Saeed Abedini, the woman’s
husband, went to Iran to build an orphanage but was sent to Evin Prison in Tehran due to his
Christian beliefs. Naghmeh Abedini, his wife, told lawmakers, “I feel my husband has been
abandoned.” 33 year old Saeed has been beaten and threatened in prison because Iranian officials
feel that President Obama will not help this man. Naghmeh has been negotiating with the Iranian
government about her husband’s freedom and hopes more will come out of this by Christmas.
TRT 1:42
ASHLIN: Protestors in Kiev, Ukraine rebuilt barricades that had been torn down by riot police on
Wednesday, December 11th. These protestors were sitting outside of Maidan’s Independence Hall
and Kiev’s City Hall for days due to President Viktor Yanukovych (Ya-noo-ka-veech) not signing an
agreement that would strengthen their cooperation with the European Union. United States
Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland declared, “ I made it absolutely clear to him that what
happened last night, what has been happening in security terms here, is absolutely impermissible
in a European state, in a democratic state.” From this event, 10 policemen and 30 protestors were
injured. Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov told the government that they would like to sign
the European Integration Deal if the European Union would give 20 billion euros to their country.
TRT 2:29
EMILY: Meanwhile in local news, on Tuesday, December 10th, the Clinton Central Model Railroad
club held its first open house for the upcoming year. In it, they had multiple “Thomas the Tank
Engine” trains on a built railroad. The members of the club are working on making a freeware
program named Java Modern Railroad Interface where members can have the opportunity to

ASHLIN: Now for some weird news.
It’s not every day you see a 50 ton 1969 Chieftain battle tank rolling down the road... or into the
side of a guardrail…twice. 58-year-old Jeffrey Glossop was attempting to get the tank up a hill
where it was dropped off after he purchased it…when suddenly he was crashing his tank into a
guardrail. He gave it another try, but to no avail- he crashed into the other guardrail across the
highway. Glossop was cited by Oregon State Police Lt. Gregg Hastings for reckless driving and first-
degree criminal mischief.
