2. Who is David Fincher?
David Fincher began his journey of film at the age of 8, when he decided
to become a director and quickly found himself as a runner on many
different film sets. At 18 he went to work for John Korty at Korty films.
However he left soon after to work for Industrial Light & Magic, where he
was an assistant cameraman on Return of the Jedi (1983) and Indiana
Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984)
3. What is David Fincher’s style
Fincher’s style can be identified very easily
He has a unique visual style where dark lighting is combined with a color
filter and crisp cinematography. Most importantly, the color palette of his
films are all very similar. It is black with some other color, usually gold or
blue. These colors usually have some sort of symbolism that is related to
the topic of the film.
4. Films and Style
In Fight Club, the colors are black and blue, just like the bruises
you’ll get as part of the titular club.
In Zodiac, the colors are black and yellow. The yellow is used to
show warmth, like during daytime when it is safe from the killer,
whereas the black is darkness like the night when he strikes.
In Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, the colors are black and icy blue,
just like the cold setting of the film.
5. My Recreation
He uses shots that are often eerily perfect, creating a distinctive
atmosphere. I attempted to recreate this in my recreation.
