The peripheral nervous system (PNS) connects the central nervous system to the rest of the body, allowing the brain and spinal cord to receive and send information to organs, limbs, and skin. It contains all the nerves outside of the central nervous system. These nerves extend from the central nervous system to the outermost areas of the body and are made up of axons or bundles of axons from neuron cells, ranging from very small to large enough to be seen by the human eye.
