The Concept
Communication is the basis of any successful interaction.
Whether it be written, verbal or body language, our ability
to communicate effectively is invaluable.
This is why I have used communication as a concept in the
logo for Mari Williams. Your company’s goal is essentially
to bridge the gap in communication which often leads to
conflict; whether in the home with family or in the work
place with professional colleagues.
What seems like just an arbitrary shape used to enclose
the initials “m” and “w” is actually much more than that.
Buried deep into the heart of this shape lies something we
do daily; something which separates us from the rest of the
animal kingdom. It has the power to create conflict as well
as to ensure peace.
This symbol is the quotation mark. The quotation mark
is literally used to convey conversation and its graphical
characteristics made it a beautiful starting point for
this logo.
As each iteration was made the logo slowly began to take
shape. What started as a rigidly obvious conceptual link
became something more abstract. But the concept was still
left strong.
The Colours
When colour was added an opportunity appeared for the
logo show growth. Not just growth of a person, but growth
of the conversation. The carefully chosen colours add to the
dialogue (no pun intended) and they strengthen an already
sound concept.
The two colour approach animates the growth process right
before your eyes. It depicts a ripening of ideas; a maturity
of self.
