The Global Future Cities Programme
 Carry out targeted interventions to encourage sustainable
development, increase prosperity whilst alleviating high
levels of urban poverty.
 Focusing on 3 pillars: Planning, Transport and Resilience
 The overall strategy is to deliver the programme in two
phases
o Strategic development phase (that is currently implemented)
o Implementation phase in selected cities (subject to UK Government
approval)
o The strategic development phase will inform and shape the
implementation phase and will provide further evidence for the
programme.

 Task 1: Review and assess fare policies and ticket
technologies of public transportation system
 Task 2: Develop a short-to-medium term proposal
for Smart Ticketing System in HCMC
 Task 3: Develop technical documents and
implement pilot project for selected bus lines
 Task 4: Develop a capacity building plan and public
engagement strategy to facilitate implementation
 Task 5: Develop long-term development strategy for
Smart Ticketing System in HCMC

Resilience intervention: the task
 Task 1: Review and assess Drainage network and flooding
data management and Applications of GIS in Urban
Management in HCMC
 Task 2: Define the scope and carry out Geologic, Hydrologic
and Topographic surveys of Drainage Network in HCMC
 Task 3: Develop the comprehensive GIS system for
Drainage Network of HCMC
 Task 4: Using the newly established GIS system, develop
flooding models for city scale, catchment area scale and
neighborhood scale
 Task 5: Develop long-term development strategy for GIS
system of drainage network in HCMC and propose
integration strategy with the GIS system of the city
