OUR MCSTORY
Chalmer and I have been Owner Operators for 23 years. Karen started her McDonald's
career in 1978, Chalmer in 1984. We own 10 locations. One in a hospital, 4 at DFW
International Airport and 5 freestanding locations.
Karen worked downtown Los Angeles at the young age of 14 and remembers helping
her parents open their first store as a swing manager. It was an honor to be an
extension of their hard work and we all rolled up our sleeves as we began to develop
the foundation of a business that would influence and shape our lives if and only if we
were willing to shine the Arches!
Chalmer remembers working at a 24-hour restaurant across the street of the busiest
central produce market in Los Angeles delivering Dial M orders from a golf cart in the
middle of the night! He designed and launched the program giving him a strong sense
of marketing and community involvement.
In 1988 we were married and in 1993 became approved operators moving to Texas to
open our JPS Hospital McDonald's location. Prior to becoming owners, Chalmer worked
as a finance manager with Assal Motors and then worked for LA Cellular ending his
career as one of the top salesman in the country. Karen worked for McDonald's at night
while she also worked as the Director of Special Events for the American Heart
Association in Los Angeles.
Together, Karen and Chalmer believe that, "NONE OF US IS AS GOOD AS ALL OF
US" and have developed an operational team and infrastructure that supports this
ideology! They have received many awards over the years but are especially proud of
the Worldwide recognition at the convention in 2004 for the Golden Arch Award.
Chalmer is currently the lead for the Guest Experience team in the Greater Southwest
region. His leadership and operator team developed the belief statement:
I AM MCDONALD's! I CREATE HAPPINESS AND OWN EVERY GUEST
EXPERIENCE IN MY RESTAURANT, ONE GOLDEN MOMENT AT A TIME.
