Dr. Jan Diels, a soil physics professor at KU Leuven in Belgium, will give a seminar on February 5, 2014 in Room Jacobo Zender at the Agronomy Faculty. The seminar, taking place from 10-11:30 AM, will discuss Dr. Diels' current research on physical soil processes at KU Leuven and an overview of ongoing research in Belgium and Africa. Some of Dr. Diels' current research topics include the vulnerability of groundwater and surface water in Flanders to nitrate pollution, the mechanical and hydrological influences of trees and grasses on stabilizing riverbanks and landslides in Ethiopia, and transport of dissolved organic phosphorus from soils
