3. WHAT IS DYNAMIC RECEIVE DIVERSITY (RD)
Dual antenna Rx diversity dynamic switching
algorithm for CDMA 1x operation – this algorithm
uses network capacity and capacity for a given
mobile to dynamically control whether RD should
be enable enabled (to improve call quality and
capacity) or disable (to save power consumption of
mobile device) when the FCH (fundamental
channel) is operational
Dynamic RD is off when device is idle
Dynamic RD is always on for SCH (Supplemental
channel)
5. DR ALGORITHM 1
To determining whether to apply multi-antenna receive diversity, two
network capacity parameters are considered;
Parameter 1 identifies the total forward link network resource
If the network is not experiencing a high load on the network resources (e.g.,
forward link power), then the network has resources to allocate more power to
the user. As a result, the device may decide to turn off multi- antenna receive
diversity.
Parameter 2 identifies the forward link resource allocated to a given
mobile.
mobile may turn on multi-antenna receive diversity if the mobile is using a large
amount of available capacity.
If mobile is only using a small amount of the network's available capacity, then
the system may decide to turn off multi-antenna receive diversity.
Both conditions have to be met in order for the MRD to activate
