I headed strategy for the unit and handled resource forecasting, fulfilment strategy, budget planning and
planning growth path for resources while leading team comprising of 4 to 9 staff under direct supervision and
11 staff in the extended country team plus several outsourcing contractors. Promoted technical cooperation as
well as capacity building of member states in the area of health information & ICT for Health.
Another key aspect of my job included development and implementation of the Regional eHealth strategy,
supporting the Health Ministry & ICT Ministry in developing National eHealth strategies, engaging all key
stakeholders and identifying procedures, priorities for implementing eHealth initiatives as per the
development needs of the region.
Some of my important contributions during this role included:
•Pioneered the development & implementation of the Regional strategy to strengthen (a) mortality statistics
using CRVS data (b) Health Information Systems (c) health statistics and health data standards
•Brain behind developing a regional template on Geographical Information System and infrastructure data,
for mapping health case management data, using open-source software
•Coordinated the publication, exchange of health data, information with HQ, other WHO Regional Offices,

development of Country Health Systems
•Contributed to the activities of the international bilateral & voluntary agencies in delivery of the health

responsible for conceiving, conceptualizing and implementing credible global/regional policies, strategies,
operational plans, SOPs, prioritize actions & secure funding, for implementation of ERP spanning project
management, change management, influencing business owners, business stakeholder management and
resolving cross-functional issues and IT & telecom services to Regional, country & field offices. Oversaw a
team comprising of 43 staff and 24 staff in extended country team and outsourcing.
In addition, I also administered functions of administration & finance (A&F), basic agreements with
governments, plans of operation with multi-million budget, as delegated by Director Administration &
Finance (DAF), including replacing DAF & A&F unit heads, serve as DAF-alternate on committees & meetings
with international organizations.
I played a major role in:
•Monitoring multi-million budget, implemented through sizable and multiple teams spread over several
countries
•Ascertaining development needs of the region in ICT, plan and monitor all aspects of Programme
Management using PRINCE II including project and proposal development, negotiations with governments &
donors, technical monitoring, resource mobilization, partnerships, funding and cost containment
•Providing professional leadership to create an empowering work environment and managing all operational
aspects of Human Resources for ICT (hiring, development, mentoring, effective use and evaluation of staff)
