RESEARCH EXPERIENCE:
Clinical ResearchProject: The Ethics of Getting Ahead
Illinois School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University, Chicago
Expected completion: October 2015
Chairperson: Susan Zoline, Ph.D.
This study proposes to assess participants’ past/current level of involvement in
athletic competition to determine if this variable may relate to their views
regarding the acceptability of engaging in various “getting ahead” behaviors in
diverse arenas.
For the purposes of this study, “getting ahead” is defined as any behavior which is
generally deemed unethical by society and provides an individual with the unfair
opportunity to become more successful or to progress more quickly than his or
her peers.
It is hypothesized that participants who have been or are currently involved in
higher levels of athletics may be more prone to agree with ethically tolerant
behaviors in the various arenas of life. I hope that my research can assist parents,
teachers, and coaches in dealing with ethical dilemmas.
