Teaching & Learning practice should aim to use technology Inclusively; to avoid and even overcome barriers that lead to exclusion. Everyone can benefit even those who have unidentified learning differences. If they are made aware of it they may find a device, technology or a strategy that helps them help them self giving them confidence and control in their learning. April 19, 2010

We are aiming for an Model of accessibility E-maturity where Inclusion is embedded into teaching & learning practice. For example, setting up systems that support independence for people with disabilities throughout the organisation and throughout their time at college and not relying completely on a team of specialists. OASES asks questions on all areas of service and provides guidance on how to improve the culture of an organisation. All the areas above impact on Teaching & Learning. Is the website accessible? Is there something about the way the network is managed that restricts software unnecessarily and therefore excludes some learners?

This evaluation process recognises the need to be specific and focuses on areas in which the key staff might be able to effect inclusive practice in their own work. The evaluations ask questions that are relevant to them in their work so they can identify what they are doing well, what needs attention and a offers suggestions on what could be done. Across the institution inclusive practice will effect the learners experience. Accessibility of website, the support available to learners, how easy is the application process? The Disability equality duty, policies and agreements in place, and the way the provision is marketing services as well as the practical things like whether alternative formats are widely available and how inclusive practice is addressed through Staff Development. How will it impact on Teaching & learning, are staff encouraged to create Accessible Learning materials and who is made aware of existing resources and how are they made available. April 19, 2010
