PockitTV is Africa’s first mobile TV network aimed at providing consumers with an
alternative video viewing experience that is able to be viewed anywhere anytime.
PockitTV is hosted on SSTREAMM’s video streaming platform hosted on the
backbone of SA’s mobile networks at Hetzner / Teraco. This allows video to be
streamed to consumers via African 3G/4G networks providing a rich consumer
experience.
PockitTV’s aim is to provide African content creators a platform to showcase their
content and to monetize their content. Content is made available via .mobi and
HTML5 Apps (launching in Feb 2015).
A unique advantage of PockitTV is the ability to target the feature phone market, this
is still a large mobile audience within the African landscape. PockitTV aims to provide
a rich mixture of video on demand content and live content to the consumers. Our
initial offering launched in November 2013 features a mixture of Music, Sport, News
and Entertainment content. Current content offering is as follows:
1. Music:
a. Urban Rooftop – Is a uniquely African show featuring African
Muscians, Comedians, entertainers performing on Rooftops across
Africa. (launching Feb 2015)
b. Balcony TV Johannesburg- Balcony TV is a leading bi-weekly online
viral music show that features bands and musicians performing on a
balcony in Johannesburg.
c. inRooms- is an online and mobile show, set in the iconic GIBSON room
at Marshall Music Woodmead. inRooms features artists performing
stripped down versions of their songs where the artists provide the
viewer with an intimate look into these songs and why they wrote
them.
d. Spindle Mag- is an urban music and lifestyle channel focusing on the
DJ and Hip Hop scene.
e. Festival TV – Live streaming and VOD highlights from various festivals
across SA and Africa. PockitTV is also launching its unique Festival
Reporter App allowing selected Festival Goers to document their
Festival Experience live and on VOD.
f. Venue TV- Live streaming from leading live music venues in SA.

g. Artist TV - A unique offering of music video’s and video blogs by
leading SA Artists. Artist TV provides a 1on1 interaction opportunity
for artists with their fans.

from the leagues, teams and players that matter, we have over 530
reporters on the ground in 50+ countries, getting closer to the action.

place in SA featuring Manchester Legends, Livepool Legends, Orlando
Pirates Legends, Kaizer Chiefs Legends and many more.
d. AFTV- is an authority on domestic football coverage across the most
popular leagues in Africa. We also bring you in-depth reports, news
and features around African players starring in Europe’s top divisions,
as well as all major international tournaments. (launching 2015)
3. News:
a. Joburg Today - is a daily dedicated Online City Channel focusing on
Johannesburg that informs, entertains, briefs and educates viewers
about events, restaurants and the happenings around Jozi.
b. Cab Talk- this unique show is filmed in a moving cab and hosted by
Nausheena Mahomed where she interviews thought-leaders that
affect your city.
4. Lifestyle:
a. AlternaTV- is SA's first 24/7 Internet TV channel, showcasing the latest
news in gaming, gadgets, motoring, music, movies, fashion & much
more.
b. Girl TV- A unique mobile TV offering from FHM.
5. Comedy
a. Safferland – A uniquely South African comedy channel featuring some
of SA most cutting edge skits.
These are just some of the channels that have been launched on PockitTV in 2013.

‘October 2013 saw South African mobile technology brand Sstreamm announce the
launch of Pockit TV: a mobile app featuring media content from across Africa. With
content on entertainment, education and sports, the free app functions as a hub for
Africa-produced only video clips. Users can also access Pockit TV content online.’
PockitTV is also currently in negotiations with several African broadcasters to launch
several African TV networks onto mobile. PockitTV is also negotiating with several
mobile networks to provide the service to these networks across Africa.
