7. Zolio Performance Report for jnavarrete (continued)
Zolio Experiences, Strengths, and Preferences (Zolio ESP™)
At the start of your Zolio experience, we asked you to complete an initial survey with many questions about your
experiences, strengths, and preferences (Zolio ESP™). This section of your report is meant to provide you with
feedback about those Zolio ESP™ results which are linked to your personality and behavior.
With extensive investing experience on Zolio's platform we endeavor to highlight the correlation between your
Zolio ESP™ profile answers and your trading performance. The more data we have, the more accurate the
correlations. However, with a relatively short trading history, correlations are unlikely to emerge or be
accurate. Thus your Zolio ESP™ feedback focuses only on how you answered the questions relative to
your peers.
Here are a few important things to remember about your results:
1. There is no "right" or "best" or "bad" set of Zolio ESP™ results. The results are about you and your
talent as it played out in the Zolio process.
2. You can be successful, or not, using any set of personal strengths and styles. The key is understanding
your personal strengths and style. Zolio ESP™ may help you achieve that by looking at how you
answered the questions relative to your peers.
3. You may believe that your talents and style "really" are different from your Zolio ESP™ results. That could
be due to some or all of the following factors:
You might think of yourself personally being one way, but you answered the questions on the Zolio
ESP™ in a different way.
You thought some of the questions were just plain odd and you weren't sure what was being asked. If
you had understood them differently you might have responded differently.
Maybe you tried to game the items (i.e. thought there were "right" answers) and if so these results
reflect how you seem while trying to guess right answers rather than how you truly are.
4. Your Zolio ESP™ results may be more accurate than you think they are. Consider what you would be like if
the results were really true; how do your experiences, strengths, and preferences contribute to your
success or developmental needs? Take whatever the outcomes and feedback tell you, and work with them
to build yourself as an investor and trader.

Benchmarking your results
Extensive research by Zolio and many others in the investment world indicate that successful investors have a
broad range of talents and traits. Zolio focuses on a few that are consistently seen as correlated with success as
an investor. These traits and talents can be combined in many ways. There are few, if any investors, who are
equally strong across all talents and traits. Your feedback report indicates how you scored on the Zolio ESP™
relative to your peers in terms of these talents and traits.
Financial analytical ability and market savvy: successful investors are highly analytical. They are
swayed by logic, facts, and evidence.
Self-management: successful investors are highly goal-oriented and disciplined. They use their trading
results to keep score not only relative to other investors, but relative to their own goals. These investors
have not only an overall trading plan for their portfolio, but have one for individual trades as well. The best
investors, at times, lose money, but unlike others they have two responses to losing money: first, they
relentlessly analyze their trading plans and execution so as to not repeat their mistake, and second they
systematically work their way back from losses in accordance with their trading plans.
Openness to new experience: successful investors are always looking for new investing ideas even in
well-defined market segments. They are always questioning their trading ideas and seeking feedback from
trusted sources. These investors also filter out sources that are untrustworthy or unfruitful. In a world
where new trading opportunities are constantly being marketed, it’s important for these traders to be
open to opportunities but be prudent with their sources by filtering out noise, hearsay and information
that is not fact-based.
Emotional self-regulation and capacity for risk tolerance: successful investors are able to function in
the face of adversity or elation without losing their perspective. They channel their emotional energy into
the "rage to master" rather than raging against adversity. They define first what levels of returns they wish
to achieve, and then define what level of risk they are willing to take to achieve those returns. Return
targets may be tempered by the investor’s capacity to manage unease about risk.
The chart above show your Zolio ESP™ results relative to Zolio participants whose P&L performance was in the top quartile. The scores are reported using a "T-
scale score," which is a scale with an average value of 50 and a standard deviation of 10. Thus, a score of 50 is average relative to others, a score of 60 is higher than
84% of all others, and a score of 40 is higher than 16% of all others.
