Key Results:
• Successfully developed and established new financial and regulatory accounting processes and procedures
consistent with GAAP and regulatory requirements. First created a tool in 1998 for the electric restructuring
market which is still used today. Once tool was put into production it quickly captured problems such as missing
revenue, with was estimated to have impacted findings by $100 Million.
• Part of a core team in the Controller’s group which developed a month-end/year-end financial process that is
instrumental to the CFO and Controller in releasing company financials to the media. Because of the success of
this streamlined process it has now become a regular procedure.
• Improved the overall financial review process by changing the analysis methodology of Accounts Receivable
Uncollectible Reserves, Accounts Payable Accrual, and Payroll related issues.
• Successfully guided the Corporate, Regulatory and Benefits Accounting group through ERP/SAP system and
accounting conversions which resulted in over 20 accountants being prepared and familiar with new system to
minimize conversion downtime.
• Successfully established new Accounting Procedures, Policies and Processes during the conversion period from
the traditional regulated electric utility industry to a more competitive market system in 1998. Provided strong
leadership and guidance to Corporate Accountants and various departments to define accounting and
regulatory issues.
• Properly accounted for Fuel Expense, Purchased Power Expense (including transactions with the California
Power Exchange and ISO), Billed Revenues, Unbilled Revenues, Balancing Accounts and Memorandum Accounts
that resulted in providing accurate data for preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Analyzed earnings impact for senior management on the write-down and restoring of regulatory assets due to
unknown collectability of TCBA/TRA (Transition Cost Balancing Account/Transition Revenue Account)
under-collections and PROACT settlement agreed upon on September 2001. This allowed SCE to settle the under
collection with the CPUC so that the financial stability of the company was no longer at risk.
• Played a key role providing guidance to the group in supplying proper documentation and responding to data
requests in General Rate Cases and Balancing and Memorandum Accounts filings with regulatory agencies (CPUC
and FERC) which led to accurate compliance filings and minimal disallowances.
• Responded timely to CPUC, FERC and DRA data requests related to General Rate Case and during the Energy
crisis period; fully supported the team in the accomplishment of the Settlement Agreement between the CPUC
and SCE.
