Top Reasons Key Benefits
Identify the business value of data by tagging emails and
documents. Labels add structure to volumes of unstructured
data within large organizations. Consistent labels
based on corporate policy include metadata to improve
email management, prevent inadvertent disclosure,
trigger encryption, and add intelligence to archival.
Top Reasons for Information Labeling
INFORMATION LABELING
4. Compliance
Protective marking can be used to comply with legislation such
as HMG, GPMS, Australian Protective Marking, HIPAA, SOX,
Gramm-Leach-Bliley, and many others.
Some governments have mandated Protective Marking
Schemes for safeguarding information, particularly when
it is shared by different organizations. Users know how to
properly handle protectively marked information which
enables compliance with legislation.
5. Efficiency for E-Discovery
Organizations can easily find information for E-Discovery based
on classification labels.
Email archiving systems can read the metadata associated
with classification labels and improve search, archival and
retention based on the assigned label.
3. Awareness
Classification labels clearly identify the existence of confidential
and sensitive information in email and documents.
Titus provides labeling solutions for Microsoft Outlook,
Outlook Web Access and Microsoft Office. This easy-to-
use solution provides a familiar toolbar in the Microsoft
environment, which gently encourages or can force users to
classify their information.
2. Automation
Classification labels can be used to automate the application of
encryption or other technologies to ensure the security of email.
Based on the user’s selection of certain labels, such as
“Internal Use Only”, administrators can configure
encryption to be automatically triggered at either the
desktop or the gateway. This removes the complexity
of encryption from the end user and ensures that critical
traffic is not being sent out unprotected.
1. Accountability
Force users to stop and think about the business value of their
emails and documents.
Users are made accountable for the type of information
they create. Users cannot distribute data until they label it
helping to enforce policy and prevent inadvertent disclosure.
Warnings also pop-up to prevent users from sending to
inappropriaterecipientsorlargedistributionlists.
