AMessagefromtheMayor
Welcome to the Caledon Parks &
Recreation Guide 2015 Fall /
Winter edition.
It’s hard to believe that the Pan Am
Games have come and gone in Caledon.
July was monumental for us, as we
were one of 16 communities across
Ontario to host the Games. We extended
our Caledon hospitality to equestrian
athletes from all over the world as they
competed in jumping and dressage
events in Palgrave at our world-class
Caledon Equestrian Park.
We’ll never forget this year’s Caledon
Day in June, which was also the day
of theTorch Relay, and Pan Am Day in
Canada. From the relay start at the equestrian park to communities across
Caledon, our torchbearers were welcomed by literally hundreds of citizens
and visitors as the torch made its way through theTown to the final pass-off
to hometown proudToronto Maple Leaf Peter Holland for the lighting of the
Pan Am cauldron on the Caledon Day stage. From the many Pan Am-themed
community events aroundTown starting in early summer, to the final
equestrian events at the end of July, it was truly a summer to remember.
I’m so pleased to share the results of our Parks & Recreation visioning plan –
Imagine. Plan. Play!We asked for your help to identify Caledon’s recreational
needs and how best to meet and deliver on them. Flip to the middle of this
Guide for an overview of your feedback.Thank you for participating! We
heard you loud and clear.
In Caledon we are fortunate to have access to many wonderful programs
and services available across 12 recreation facilities, as well as 260 km of
publicly-accessible trails and over 65 parks and playgrounds. In this Guide
you will find all the information you need to participate and get active in
Caledon this Fall andWinter.
I encourage you to explore the many unique programs and services
described in this Guide and take advantage of the wonderful opportunities
that Caledon has to offer.
