Behaviour Policy Training (1)
April 2nd 2015
Why ?
• Why do we need to have training on
behaviour policy?
• To make sure that our children grow up with
the characteristics and qualities we desire.
• To ensure this:
• We must make sure we follow the same
principles and that we apply the same ideas
and beliefs.
• We must also have a clear idea or what is right
and what is wrong.
• We must understand what our duty is.
There have been three times in the
last two weeks when both Wendy and
I have had concerns over the way our
teachers have behaved towards
children.
How should we treat children?
We must be fair
We must be consistent
We must show tolerance
We must show understandingWe must know our students well
We must show kindness
We must be thoughtful
We must deal with issues immediately
We must try to prevent bad behaviour
We must be honest
We must be patient
We must be a good role model
We must be good listeners
We must treat each individual according to their needs
We must forgive
We must be calm We must speak with a gentle voice
Class behaviour management.
• Essential agreements
• Knowing our pupils
• Helping them understand
• Age appropriate
• Planning to avoid poor behaviour
• Recording punishments
• Working as a consistent staff team
• Working with parents
Please make a list of:
• Acceptable punishments
• Unacceptable punishments
• Wendy and I will look at your lists – we will use
them to make a list of acceptable punishments.
• If staff use punishments that are not on the list
then they may be subject to disciplinary action.
• If staff see others using punishments not on the
list it is their duty to report it. If they do not, they
may also be subject to disciplinary action.

• Our next training will look at strategies we can
will put in the classrooms to encourage our
children to develop the behavioural
characteristics we want.
