Jon Hollingsworth is an experienced IT professional with complimentary key strengths in
application architecture and systems design His extensive technical background
encompasses a wide range of development platforms and is enhanced by his expanding
knowledge of project management techniques.
Jon has experience in all stages of application development and has worked on a variety of
projects, ranging from small productivity tools to large-scale international systems. He has
employed various development methodologies having designed and implemented stand
alone, distributed, client-server and Internet solutions on a variety of mainframe, PC and Mid
Range Systems.
His diverse business knowledge has been attained from building, maintaining and supporting
IT solutions across many business areas including manufacturing, procurement, fulfillment,
distribution, HR and finance. This experience has been gained largely in internal IBM
projects requiring global knowledge of IBM internal processes and international industry
standards.
Jon was a Senior Production Support DBA as part of a team of 5 DB2 DBAs at Visa Europe
responsible for 2 data warehouses and the Clearing and Settlement system.
He is currently working on a Banking application at IBM UK for Pomeroy. The role is
production support and enhancement projects. This has enabled him to gain MQ replication
skills and enhance his experience of a high availability environment.

on an international banking application. Specializing in DPF and single node
databases, table range partitioning, DPF and MQ Replication.

Project: Production Support DBA, Visa EUROPE. From April 2012 to July
2014
In Visa EUROPE , working on Database Audit, DB2 V10 migration and Optim
implementation projects as well as the production operations role. A backup and
recovery specialist in DPF and single node databases, using HADR, HACMP, SQL
Replication , BCVs and SRDF for hot and warm standby databases.
Project: Production Support DBA, Visa EUROPE. From July 2008 to April
2012.
In Visa EUROPE , working as part of a team on DB2 systems in production operations.
Break-fix , on call support on a range of DB2 applications. DB2 version 9.1 on AIX and
Solaris. V9.5 and 9.7 on AIX. There are 2 Data warehouses in the 40TB size using Data
Partitioning, Workload Management and ETL tools, a Clearing and Settlement system and a
mixture of batch and OLTP application within our remit. The responsibilities include
patching and release upgrades, housekeeping, new builds for development and projects,
monitoring, backup and recovery. The role includes change management and incident
resolution using Remedy. Development of shell scripts to improve and enhance maintenance
and user tasks. Providing documentation for production and projects, job scheduling using
ControlM . Jon has recently been working on the authorization system which is based on
CTREE database technologies
Project: IBM DBA Team Lead. April 2007 to July 2008
Team leading 4 other DBAs as a shared resource pool servicing 27 contracts. Jon has
expanded the team to cover Oracle databases in the defense and public sector. He is SC
cleared with additional SACU clearance needed for one specific project. Jon has gained
experience through these projects in Oracle 10g and 9i. The DB2 projects are cross platform
Windows, Linux or AIX and range from version 9.5 through 8.2 and 1 to db2 V7. Jon has
good hardware and middleware knowledge. These contracts range from support contracts
with simple monitoring, through tuning and clustered servers, disaster recovery and
replication to full long term development projects. The team lead is responsible for resource
planning, recruitment, training and career development, management reporting and standards
and compliance.
Project: IBM DB2 DBA. April 2003 to April 2007.
In IBM Hursley, working as part of the DB2 DBA resource pool on various projects. Cahoot
bank and Argos until end of contract. Polaris (Insurance company web tool) and UCCS (UK
Air Defense). Debenhams TR Data warehouse and Norwich Union PAYD project. Providing
DB2 expertise and support on demand on a variety of other projects. Main platform is UNIX
but can support DB2 AS400 and Windows. Jon is working on the GP9 an application for
Helicopter Pilots as the Developer/Systems analyst. He also worked on RCS, an Oracle
database for logging Search and Rescue statistics from various agencies. Latterly he worked

CJIT, the criminal Justice system ; Transport for London, congestion charging system and
Border control immigration system.
Project: IBM Cords Migration. February 2002 to April 2003.
In IBM North Harbour, using his experience in migrating CSP applications to VisualAge
Generator,. Jon has been working on the Fleet Management application Cords. A project to
migrate the existing Fleet Management application to IBM Visual Age Generator, a 4GL
COBOL generator. The role also included the training of the Maintenance/Developer on the
new platform.
Project: IBM HR Access. March 2001 to January 2003.
In IBM North Harbour, Jon was developing, testing code and supporting users of the HR
Access application. This role includes production support and general maintenance of the
payroll system.
Jon learned PAC Base programming language and developed his COBOL skills to support
this application. The interfaces cover a variety of TSO Platforms with a Client Server front
end. In this role Jon had to raise CPMAs and communicate deliveries with Service Delivery
in the UK, Netherlands and France. Jon was involved in projects, which include Stock
Purchase and has developed a Strategic Out sourcing Package for importing Employee data
into HR Access using Lotus Approach.
Project: IBM International Distribution Systems. March 1998 – March 2001
Jon joined IBM Distribution Systems group to provide some expertise in distribution systems
and in particular technical expertise in CSP development. He developed code for delivery to
5 run sites world wide, was involved in third level support dealing with run site help desk
personnel in the US, Brazil, Japan, Australia and Germany, supported installations and solved
problems in production and test environments and was involved in Y2K changes and fixes.
During this period he was involved in several major projects. Designing and developing
solutions for Credit and Debit processing, Intrastat reporting and local enhancements for IBM
Australia. He was also involved in several releases of the base application. Jon was able to
provide back levels of’ function point’ measurements on this application and has assisted in
Function Point measurements for other projects in North Harbour.
The final release included the migration of all CSP code to Visual Age Generator and the
migration of the application to IBM Germany. Jon was responsible for the transfer and
removal of the application from North Harbour.
Project: IBM Distribution and Finance Business Analyst and Project Leader .

In IBM Havant, assisting in the maintenance and development of Distribution and Finance
systems in a manufacturing environment. Jon has experience of Purchase Management, Sales
& Marketing and Human Resource applications and processes. Jon spent about 6 months in
IBM Greenock during the early 1990s when the systems in Havant were to be integrated with

those in Greenock, this successfully removed the Import and Accounts payable systems from
the Havant application Suite. Jon spent a further 6 months in Greenock supporting the
separation of and reinstallation of the Costing system back in Havant. During the mid 1990s
the application platform was changed to AS/400 and Jon used his business knowledge to
migrate Distribution systems and Finance systems onto BPCS integrated manufacturing
package from the traditional mainframe PL/1 applications.
Professional Business Experience
Jon has specialized in the maintenance, development and testing of system applications in the
distribution arena and has worked on a variety of Finance applications. IBM Systems include
DS2A, IDDE, CIAS and CLS using CSP, PL/1, DB2, IMS, JCL and TSO MVS for the IBM
Mainframe applications. INFOMAN, for problem reporting and change management.
ASSET CL and Query on an AS/400 for BPCS V4, which includes XM4 as the distribution
module. Project leading the installation of an AS/400 based Image system for the storage of
invoices and associated documentation for the Accounts Payable department. Jon has
worked with DOS, Windows 3.x, Windows 95, OS/2 versions 1.3 to Warp 4, Lotus and
Microsoft products and web authoring tools. Jon can program for the PC in REXX, Delphi
and Visual Basic.
Moving to North Harbour, Jon consolidated his CSP Skills and learned how to migrate CSP
code to Visual Age Generator. He learned Lotus Script for a small HR Access project and
has completed a number of Java and Object methodologies education courses.
Jon has worked in Hursley, Farborough and London on a variety of Retail, Defense and Web
Applications, providing 24/7 Support. Database monitoring and housekeeping in a support
role, development changes to databases for upgrades and enhancements and leading a team of
5 DBAs on 27 individual projects using DB2 and Oracle.
Jon now works for Visa EUROPE looking after 2 large multi partition data warehouses. He
was the lead DBA on the Clearing and Settlement system, providing Subject Matter expertise
to the Operational Team. He is now Lead DBA on BI Warehouse.
