worked

Tim

four
years
,
serving
as
his
department
chair
for
one
of
those
years.
During
that
Pme,
Tim
accomplished
a
lot
at
the
College
of
the
Marshall
Islands.
His
many
technical
proficiencies,
friendly
disposiPon,
promptness,
and
professionalism
would
make
him
valuable
in
any
organizaPon.
For
our
department,
he
combined
all
those
wonderful
traits
with
a
singular
focus
on
student
learning
and
achievement.
This
made
Tim
an
extremely
valuable
faculty
and
department
member.
As
a
faculty
member,
Tim
readily
shared
his
knowledge
and
experPse.
He
administered
the
college’s
Learning
Management
System
and
trained
other
faculty
members
in
its
use.
He
pioneered
methods
for
allowing
students
to
work
at
their
own
pace,
methods
for
ensuring
mastery
before
moving
on
to
new
material,
and
methods
for
the
detailed
assessment
of
learning
objecPves.
Tim
documented
outcomes
for
all
of
these
iniPaPves
within
our
assessment
framework
and
provided
virtual
courses
in
our
LMS
to
help
other
instructors
understand
and
implement
them.
Tim
served
in
many
commi(ees
during
my
Pme
at
CMI,
including
the
Human
Resources,
InformaPon
Technology,
and
Faculty
EvaluaPon
System
Commi(ees.
When
I
served
on
the
InformaPon
Technology
Commi(ee
with
Tim,
I
was
consistently
impressed
by
his
preparedness,
technical
experPse,
and
collegiality.
During
our
Pme
together
on
the
IT
Commi(ee,
Tim
contributed
both
invenPve
ideas
and
a
proposal
of
detailed
process
guidelines.
However,
what
really
made
Tim
stand
out
to
me
was
the
natural
way
he
communicated
these
and
other
deas
and
proposals
to
people
from
across
cultures
and
across
posiPons
at
the
college.
I’m
indeed
fortunate
to
have
had
Timothy
Owens
as
a
member
of
the
STEM
Department
during
my
chairmanship.
His

helped
us
