THE BATTLE OF THE RIVER RAISIN
Nov.19,20,26-30,&Dec.3-7
ake your students back through time to the early days of
recorded history in Monroe County. Experience firsthand the
reality of nighttime raids, devastating combat, and heroic
rescues along the River Raisin.
The Monroe County Intermediate School District provides
the resources and supporting materials you need to bring
our local history to life for your students. Lesson plans and
assessment tools are available on-line. Kits -- with artifacts
and accessories that can be studied and handled -- will be
placed with teachers to provide an innovative tactile com-
ponent for your lessons. And it’s all interactive!
The easy-to-use registration form is located on the MCISD’s
website at www.misd.k12.mi.us All you need to do is go on-
line now and reserve your place on the schedule.
Your students will learn key ideas about local involvement
in the War of 1812, the Battle of the River Raisin, and the en-
suing massacre.
