1. New developments in ATM security at HSBC
eWave technology today announced that they are rolling out the installation of
an ATM monitoring system for HSBC ATMs in the UAE.
HSBC is among the first banks in the region to take active and positive steps to fight ATM fraud by
installing security cameras to record all activity at their ATMs. The continuous recording uses a
remote monitoring solution from Verint Systems, receiving real-time and/or archived visual data from
each HSBC ATM across its country-wide network.
"ATM fraud is becoming increasingly difficult to combat and trace. With this technology however, any
video sequence can be recalled from the digital video archive and thus investigated. We are very
happy to work with HSBC and commend them on their effort to ensure that customers are not at risk
of any loss due to fraudulent activities at ATMs" said Ayman Majzoub, Business Development
Manager at eWave technology.
'This system allows us to give our customers the most important benefit a bank can give: Peace of
Mind. With the Verint solution in place, we're adding yet another facet to banking security. The visuals
we receive from the system not only allow us to verify ATM transactions, but also help us enhance
customer service and help us resolve transaction disputes' said Vineet Malhotra of HSBC Direct
Banking Services.
The Verint product is easy to use, requires minimal amount of training and the installation is straight
forward. The Verint technology provides on-site capture and off-site retrieval of video and security
data using an embedded operating platform with long-term video storage capabilities. Remote
accessibility allows retrieval and administration over LAN/WAN, local, or modem connectivity.
