Yehoshua wanted to see how to conquer Ai, so he sent spies there. When the spies came back they said that there weren’t many people in
Ai. Yehoshua decided not to send many soldiers.

2. It is going to be easy to defeat Ai because they do
not have many people in the city
Yehoshua sent 3000 men to Ai because he thought it would be easy to defeat them as they did not have many people in Ai but Yehoshua
lost 36 men on the first day.

3. Why did 36
soldiers die in Ai?
Because Achan
stole something
Hashem told B’nei Yisrael that they had lost 36 soldiers because they had stolen something valuable
from Yericho even though they were told not to take anything.

4. Achan had stolen something valuable and also lots of silver and gold and hidden it under his tent.

5. Achan was killed because of what he did.

6. Lets attack Ai !!!!!
Yehoshua had a clever plan to make 30,000 men wait behind the city of Ai while he led a smaller army
into the city.

7. The soldiers of Ai started to attack Yehoshua’s small army.

8. Run away!
The small army pretended to run away making the King chase them. The city was unprotected.

9. Yehoshua raised his javelin, this told his soldiers that were waiting that they should set fire to Ai.

10. Yeahhh
Yehoshua’s army beat Ai and Yehoshua and the Jewish people conquered Ai.
