I graduated from the ASTEC Charter High School in May of 2012. I was eager to find a job in
order to help my family with financial issues. I then started working at my first job at Target. I
continued my job there for approximately 2 years when I chose to enlist into the United States
Marine Corps. Once I was in the Delayed Entry Program I took a temporary job at McDonalds’
while I was waiting to be enlisted. I shipped off to Marine Corps Recruit Depot, where I would
start my career as a United States Marine. Being stationed in Camp Pendleton, Ca I gained
experience and knowledge to exceed proficiently as a Motor Transport Operator.
As a Motor Transport Operator I have accomplished many skills to transcend any aspect in my
job. My eagerness to learn and gain knowledge assisted my career to hold billets as a new
Marine that was typically held by senior Marines. My first year I held the billet of a dispatcher,
setting me for success to achieve mission readiness in my battalion. As a dispatcher I was in
charge of tasking tactical vehicles to other marines for training events, safeness, and logistics. I
was also tasked out for other job billets while attaining my current job billet as a dispatcher; such
as Vehicle Safety Inspector, On Vehicle Equipment Non-Commissioned Officer, and Motor
Transport Operations Chief. The billet of Vehicle Safety Inspector consisted of checking tactical
vehicles for safety and maintenance before being operated and dispatched out. As an On Vehicle
Equipment Non-Commissioned Officer I ensured the vehicle had the necessary safety
equipment. Being the Motor Transport Operations Chief included going to meetings for training
events, convoy operations, and ensuring Marines and equipment were accounted, maintained,
and safe for road operations.
In addition, I deployed on the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (31st MEU). The 31st MEU granted
me job experiences in other countries such as Japan, Malaysia, and South Korea. Planning
convoy operations in countries that have a different scheme of maneuvers was a very challenging
task that helped me attain more knowledge as a Motor Transport Operator. Not only did this help
me in my job, but also in the social, economic, and culture of different societies all over the
world. I feel that it has given me the opportunity to surround myself with diversity, and begin to
lead others without hesitation.
I am eager to further my career and use this move as a new opportunity. I know the skills I have
acquired in past experiences will prove beneficial to my future. I am eager for the opportunity to
show you how I will be a great asset to your company.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Sincerely,
Jesus R Ramirez Jr.
