The Lanceros de Tayabas is a Philippine folk dance that originated in the province of Tayabas in the 16th century when Spanish missionaries introduced Christianity and European culture. The dance takes its name from the knights of King Arthur and was performed as entertainment alongside Spanish stage plays. Dancers are arranged in squares with girls wearing traditional Filipino dresses and boys wearing shirts and pants, and they perform choreographed movements to celebratory 2/4 time music.
