Amendatory Act of the ASWSU By-Laws: Modification to External Affairs Committee Duties

BE IT ENACTED BY THE FORTY-FOURTH SENATE OF THE ASSOCIATED STUDENTS OF
WASHINGTON STATE UNIVERSITY
Section 1
207.02 The Senate External Affairs Committee shall
1. Review all action of the Faculty Senate, University administration, all levels
of government, and any other groups with regard to student concerns and seek
all necessary action by ASWSU;
2. Make the Senate visible throughout campus through outreach programs or
other events;
3. Conduct a Joint Session Meeting with the Pullman City Council at least once
per semester; and
4. Shall oversee the ‘Community Service Award’ to be given to all students who
meet a set number of hours.
A. The awards will go as follows: Bronze Award for volunteering 30
hours in an academic year, Silver Award for volunteering 40 hours
in an academic year, and Gold Award for volunteering 50 hours in
an academic year.
B. The External Affairs Committee will receive the names and emails
of students who meet each of the categories from the Center for
Civic Engagement and contact the students via email explaining
their distinction;
C. The External Affairs Committee will assist in the organization and
marketing of the community service recognition at the LEAD
Banquet and offer funds on a per year basis to be agreed upon by
the Finance Committee and the CCE. The funds will be allocated
to compensating the CCE for the time required to compile student
hours and reports; and
D. This bill shall become null and void if the CCE refuses to
participate during any given year. This bill shall become null and
2. void if the CCE and Finance Committee do not reach an agreement
on funding; and
E. The External Affairs Committee will review the program annually.
Section 2 This bill shall take effect in the 2015-2016 academic year.
