- 2. Residential Coordinator and really focuses on creating a truly beneficial experience for each of her students
and host families.
Charleston Collegiate School has eight international students from China, with five participating in our
residential program through gphomestay. Jenny has provided ongoing support to all five of our students as
well as their host families. Originally from Haßloch, Germany, Jenny understands the challenges that arise
when studying and living abroad. She has gone above and beyond in ensuring our students are content by
organizing fun events such as ice skating, carriage tours of downtown Charleston, as well as the fun and
notorious ghost tour in one of America’s greatest southern towns.
During her monthly and quarterly checkins with families, Jenny has made close connections with the host
families in our network. Host families feel like they have a reliable person to count on when anything arises.
Host father Keith said, “Jenny is awesome. She has been solid support for us and very timely in answering
any question or requests we have.” Keith, like the rest of our host families, feels grateful for having Jenny as
their Residential Coordinator.
Similarly, our international students have expressed their joy of having Jenny be there for them. Student
Elsie Cai enthusiastically told Jenny, ” I appreciate everything you did for me, thank you for always helping
me. I really enjoyed being with you this semester.”
Some of Jenny’s female students have taken an interest in basketball and have joined the school’s team.
Jenny makes it point to be at as many of the girls’ games as possible taking pictures and cheering them on.
Jenny always takes her students on fun adventures for their quarterly events. Most recently, she took the
students out to dinner and a ghost tour that consisted of eating at the most haunted place in Charleston and
snapping photos of the supernatural. Other events include ice skating and attending a South Carolina
Stingrays hockey game. When she’s not taking the students out herself, she is offering suggestions for host
families on fun things for them to do with their students.
Gphomestay is proud to have such dedicated and enthusiastic Residential Coordinators as Jenny O’Bryan.
Thank you for all that you do, Jenny!
