Jennifer Grossman is the owner of Oliver NYC, an Upper East Side boutique in New York City that offers a unique blend of domestic and European clothing labels. Grossman draws from her background in fashion editing and boutique ownership to curate Oliver NYC's collection. The boutique aims to provide a personalized shopping experience for customers and offers styling services like closet editing. Grossman was inspired to open Oliver NYC after seeing an untapped retail space near her home and wanting to bring a neighborhood boutique concept to the area.

Recently
I
had
the
pleasure
of
becoming
friends
with
a
fabulous
lady
on
Facebook
by
the
name
of
Jennifer
Grossman.
Browsing
through
her
photos
I
couldn’t
help
but
be
intrigued
to
find
out
more
as
she
has
an
amazing
sense
of
style!
Through
researching
further,
I
found
that
she
is
the
owner
of
Oliver
NYC
–
an
Upper
East
Side
boutique,
named
after
her
son
Oliver,
with
a
unique
blend
of
domestic
&
European
labels,
many
of
them
exclusive
to
Oliver
NYC.
3. Customers
can
expect
to
browse
through
key,
essential
pieces
for
the
stylish:
think
quintessentially
parisian
chic
via
Grace
Kelly’s
sophistication
(silk
neckties,
wool
tunics,
princess
coats),
Twiggy’s
playfulness
(pinafore
dresses,
Peter
Pan-‐
collar
sweaters,
faux
fur
jackets,
and
leather
separates
with
rakish
tailoring
(cigarette
pants,
leather-‐trimmed
blazers).
In
addition,
Oliver
NYC
is
not
just
a
retail
store.
Jennifer
and
her
associates
will
offer
exceptional
styling
services
like
closet
editing
and
personal
shopping
which
epitomize
her
belief
in
individualized
customer
service.

WBM:
How
did
your
background
lead
you
to
where
you
are
today?
JENNIFER:
I
always
was
a
little
fashionista.
When
I
was
6,
my
parents
went
to
Paris
and
I
told
them
I
must
have
the
new
Guess
jeans
with
zippers
on
the
bottom!
I
was
an
English
major
and
graduated
from
University
of
Michigan,
when
I
landed
my
first
job
working
in
the
corporate
offices
of
Polo
Jeans
Co.
A
couple
years
later,
I
was
worked
as
a
beauty
and
fashion
editor
as
well
as
running
and
owning
boutiques
with
my
former
partner/husband
and
styling
high
profile
clients.
WBM:
Describe
in
one
paragraph
max,
Oliver
NYC
to
me.
JENNIFER:
Oliver
NYC
was
born
from
the
idea
that
I
wanted
to
bring
back
the
high-‐
end
boutique
experience
to
the
“neighborhoods”
of
Manhattan.
Oliver
NYC
is
an
edited
version
of
“a
cool
girl’s
closet”,
explains
one
of
our
regulars.
It
has
all
the
hard-‐to-‐find
labels
and
accessories
that
complete
any
outfit.
It
is
a
very
customized
and
personalized
shopping
experience,
very
fitting
for
the
Upper
East
Siders!
WBM:
What
led
you
to
the
concept
of
Oliver
NYC?
JENNIFER:
I
live
a
block
away
and
I
saw
the
space
and
I
loved
the
window
and
knew
that
the
area
was
a
great
“untapped”
retail
gem.
I
am
a
pioneer
here…it
is
a
true
neighborhood
boutique,
fashion
going
local.
At
Oliver
NYC,
I
am
able
to
infuse
a
bit
of
“downtown
boho
chic”
with
high-‐style
New
York
Upper
East
Side
glam,
party
frocks,
towering
heels,
and
blow-‐outs
galore!
WBM:
What
is
a
key
lesson
you’ve
learned
along
the
way?
JENNIFER:
Timing
is
key
and
never
leave
your
house
without
checking
in
the
mirror
and
looking
put
together….you
never
know
who
you
will
meet!
WBM:
Think
of
these
four
characteristics
of
entrepreneurs:
heart,
smart,
guts,
luck.
Which
one
were
you?
JENNIFER:
A
little
heart,
a
little
smart,
a
little
luck….all
3!
and
confident!
WBM:
What
has
been
your
highest
moment
in
fashion
and
your
lowest?
JENNIFER:
I
was
in
Starbucks
a
little
after
I
opened
in
April
and
I
heard
a
mother
and
daughter
reference
Oliver
NYC
as
their
landmark
of
where
they
would
start
there
day
of
shopping
and
go
from
there..
highest
and
my
lowest:
I
got
a
perm
in
9th
grade.
WBM:
Where
do
you
see
yourself
in
five
years?
JENNIFER:
Let
me
surprise
you…
WBM:
Who
currently
is
your
style
icon?
JENNIFER:
My
mom,
Faye
Dunaway
in
Network,
Diane
Keaton
in
Annie
Hall,
Jane
Birken,
Coco
Chanel,
Kate
Moss.
I
am
a
sucker
for
insouciant,
mannish
tailoring.
I
like
people
who
look
comfortable
in
their
clothes,
who
make
fashion
look
effortless.
4. My
ideal
wardrobe:
my
version
on
70s
glamour
in
a
way
that
is
both
covetable
and
accessible.
WBM:
Fashion
item
you
can’t
live
without?
JENNIFER:
Smoking
Jackets!
We
are
obsessed
with
Giada
Forte’s
cashmere
ones
at
Oliver
NYC!
