hosting monthly celebration events. Student volunteers assisted with event
advertising and promotions, greeting guests, running interactive games and
contests, distributing prizes, event set-up and take down.

Orientation leaders help new students feel supported as they transition into their
new academic environment. These students ensure that all faculty-specific events
are running smoothly and in accordance with the original program proposal
between the Faculty Captain and the Student Experience Centre.

iBegin Student Staff work to collaboratively ensure the overall success of the
iBegin summer transition program. Their role involves supporting Student
Experience Centre staff in the execution of the iBegin program, including
completing daily logistical tasks, guiding faculty-specific tours of the North and
Downtown campus locations, and participating in both formal and informal
discussions around the first year transition and UOIT campus life. All student staff
are expected to act as a role model of a balanced lifestyle, respect for self,
respect for others and respect for the community. Staff are also actively engaged
in the evaluation and assessment process following iBegin.

September Orientation Student Steering Committee
Faculty Captains assist the Student Experience Centre with the creation and
execution of faculty-specific September Orientation events. Through ideas
gathered at team meetings, they must submit a formal proposal for orientation
programming and manage a team of volunteers to ensure the success of their
event(s). Faculty Captains are actively involved in recruiting, interviewing and
training orientation leaders.

The Habitat for Humanity Club's purpose is to engage the student community in
order to help break the cycle of poverty in the Durham Region through awareness,

Twitter, as well as creating posters.
